Project Cars Weekly TIme Trail
Discussion
I have to agree with B2BS, I spent many years sim racing with either mouse steering (LFS) or a pad and always thought a wheel really wouldn't make all that much difference, it really does, it's completely transformed the various sims I use. It may seem a bit of an expense but I really wouldn't want to go back to pad or mouse now. That said if you are just getting into it a pad is fine, I recall Jay was pretty much as fast ever with a pad as he is now on a wheel so it can be done.
ETA - was hoping to get ago at this tonight but it appears my broadband has decided otherwise.... no TT mode until it sorts itself out (hopefully!)

I sent Dan some good Pad control starting points last night
The issue with a Pad is that I wouldn't say it's slower, but it's a lot harder to be more consistent.
Catching slides for example (powering out of corners) is much much harder, very much a knife-edge and in some cars you cannot get enough steering angle at lower and medium speeds without sacrificing stability in the higher speed ones.
That being said when we did the GT86 / Cadwell combo I was on pad and managed 3 consistent fast laps within 0.2 seconds of each other so it can be done.

Not too bad a starting point on the pad given it's way faster than my Clio in career mode haha

Ah OK, I put the changes in you sent me Jay but will take them out and have another go
No no no, sorry if I mis understood. You can use any controller settings you want.
The car setup has to be the default one (use time trial mode).
You may struggle with gamepad to find a setting that works in slow and faster parts of the track.
Try turning opposite lock assitance off and changing the speed sensitive steering setting.
