Fuel in tt mode don't matter as
Set to 5l

Looking at the fastest sector times including the 28.6 s1 I managed results
In a 27 sec lap time lol

I'm
Happy how I took the chicane and the first corner is dialled in mainly carrying the speed
Through the last 3 corners

Slow In fast out need to chill and stop carrying too much speed into corner and scrubbing off exit speed

Been trying different ffb settings and feel how the car behaves differently

I might stick with the time I have and see what i can get to with some setup tweaks tonight, I'm trying to learn more about it so it's a good measure for me. I'll let you guys know what I do so you can have a play. The first thing is the tyre pressures on all cars are known to be 10-15% too high, and fuel loads are usually way too high. Little tweaks on the diff usually bring big gains. I don't usually get as far as suspension tweaks tbh. I'm starting simple.
That would be interesting to see how much faster a tuned car would be, someone said that it was only about a second but I think it will be more. Now you know the track and car this is the perfect opportunity to get a good idea of what you need.
I played PCs when it first came out but then left it a bit I think it's nearly perfect now, when I played before some of the cars where undriveable without altering suspension so big gains on them

I have been playing it for 3 years smile after signing up in 2012. It's a lot different now than when I first played. The Nordschleife was just a grey ribbon in a blank void at one time.

It was fascinating watching the game develop, I loved seeing it. Some people really got their knickers in a twist over it, but when I had problems I just went on the forum and reported it if it wasn't already there (tbh 9/10 of the issues I had were already known by the time I saw them).

For some reason it seemed to attract a lot of hate on the interwebz. I don't really understand that if I'm honest, its just a game after all. In my opinion a bloody good one.

Historically driving sims fell into two categories.

Hyper-accurate racing physics - nasty cartoon colour palette
Less accurate arcade physics - beautiful graphics & lighting

I never knew why there wasn't a game that could combine both, PCars is the closest so far but I think some people in the internetz still looks at polished graphics/effects and atmosphere as therefore having poor driving physics. Of course these are also people (kids) who have never driven the cars in the sim they are commenting on and therefore have no clue as to what's right or not. smile

I love both "arcade" and sim, although I would argue that nearly every racing/driving game that attempts realism is therefore a sim by definition. I have bought and played every GT on the PS, but I really fell in love with Live for Speed on PC. The installation file is under 200MB and I think there are 20 mainly fictional cars, and 6 locations with each having a few track configurations (including some rallyx). I played this on a gamepad for years, got in to racing with a group of organised clean racers and had a blast. Good times, but its dying due to lack of updates. Project CARS came along at just the right time for me.

I was so determined to get the split times I then quit out and missed grabbing the replay, but I did go back and try to match or beat it but the best I could do after was a 1m28.130s, video uploading will be here when it is.

1m28.130s lap, outside view to see the lines (and the mistakes) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xx9jQLnHRc
(Give it a bit of time to process the HD)

I agree even on release I thought it was good, yeah bugged but good, hoping to get some time on it now and hopefully justify buying a wheel to the boss.

40% off now on Steam if anyone wants to join in the fun. Only DLC that is 40% off is the Limited Edition upgrade, but the others are only the cost of a pint anyway.

billybob and 4wd, you are both be losing time in mid sector, this is what I'm doing.

After the left hairpin, for the fast left lift as you turn toward the apex, shift to 4th after the apex, little dab of throttle as you drift out brings the nose back, then downshift 2 gears to 2nd for right hander toward chicane. It's definitely where I'm catching 4WD easy 3-4 tenths just there. Come on guys you can do it wink

Can I get a woop woop!

Is fraps the best way to capture vids? Replay function?

I've never bothered before but could probably do an awesome crash compilation on this combo lol.

Trouble with time trial is it only saves 2 minutes maximum of action, so it's one lap and bit here, sometimes at tracks with lap times over 2 minutes you can't even get a replay of the whole lap.

But I do use fraps.

Don't know how I managed it, but hello 1:27s smile

Thanks for saying about taking the chicane at full speed Billy, made me realise I could get through there faster than I'd been trying.

Great competition this week chaps driving

Even though I know I'll be back down the table in a few hours!
