Anyone playing this?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110/?snr=1_7_...

It reads like every other 'In development, early acces forever in alpha' type game but its really very good. I lost my entire weekend to it and am struggling now at work on 2 hours sleep hehe

Check out the trailer, lots of fun and misery to be had and the devs are pumping out updates every day. One thing to mention, I wouldn't expect to run this on a decent graphic setting until its been optimised more

So any tips as to the first few things to do?
I tried taping a raptor, but the percentage kept going down and stuffing it with food did little (though he wasn't hungry at the time).

I got as far as building a thatch foundation with some walls, but due to a massive levelling up slow-down went out looking for trouble and found it...
then spawned inside someone's locked house and couldn't get out so that was that.
I managed to make a narctoic thing, but didn't live long enough to try it.

Lol its good fun isn't it hehe

The absolute best thing is to play with friends and make a tribe.

To tame a raptor you need to make sure there is enough meat in there for the duration. Then its a case of feeding it narco berries or going a step further and using the narcotics you crafted. Using those keeps the efficiency percentage up. Once the berries are in the raptors inventory you click it and then there is an option below to 'remote use'.

If all else fails just punch it. It'll keep it unconscious but it'll take alot longer and you need to keep an eye on its health.

You can tame a raptor in 10 minutes if you use Prime Meat but getting a hold of that at low level isn't the easiest. Also you will need a raptor saddle or any saddle for anything you are trying to tame to ride them.

Once you've established a (hidden!) base and make storage lockers and made a bed, everything gets alot easier. Obviously you also become a target once you start making progress to other players so be prepared to come back to the server having been ransacked, killed and your bed destroyed so you can't spawn back there hehe

You need to tame it and be able to make a saddle for it. Then you're strapped to its back hehe

Any good "getting started" guides? I've created a character and run around on a map for a little while but succeeded only in falling off a cliff and getting killed by a small dinosaur.

I have a good one:

1. Don't fall off cliffs.
2. Be wary of small dinosaurs. Just punch them in the face.

HTH.

This is quite a good site to start on:

Reading the reviews on steam, the late night griefing would piss me off really quickly.

Got a few mates in IT so server idea may be the best bet

Build a house as quick as you can with a bed or sleeping bag - saves random respawns.
Also getting the materials and crafting the house really gets the XP up fast so you can level quicker

Anyone fancy some sort of PH clan?

These games seem to rely heavily on teamwork and the DayZ one was pretty fun a while back.

I really want to get my hands on this but at the moment, it is not available on Steam for the Mac. I hear it might be out though before the end of the month so hopefully I can join a few people for a game.

Just started playing Rust again and that has changed massively.
