Seen some gameplay of TLG and it looks (visually) very impressive. Early complaints were clunky controls and awkward camera movement, do any of the reviews state if this has been improved with the final release?
My daughter was watching over my shoulder when I had Youtube open and she thought the griffin / dog / thing was really cute. I'd be a bit concerned about playing the game in front of her though as yesterday The Land Before Time reduced her to tears.
Reviews are saying the camera is really dodgy and it can be very fiddly to get your character to move the way you want, sometimes. Also saying that the bird-dog (Trico) is pretty random in responding to your commands which causes more frustration. My daughter was watching over my shoulder when I had Youtube open and she thought the griffin / dog / thing was really cute. Other negatives are the actual performance of the graphics engine - despite looking a lot like a PS3 title (it was originally supposed to be on the PS3) it has really awful framerates on a standard PS4. Acceptable in 1080p on a PS4 Pro though. Hopefully they can patch this in the future.
However as a game it looks to be really great, just suffering a bit from a flawed implementation. Maybe those coding shortcomings are fixable if the devs are prepared to patch it.
Got a second hand copy of The Last Guardian to see what the fuss was about.
Haven't got off the first screen yet, because I couldn't stop laughing and shaking my head at the fact you cannot walk!!
It's tiptoe, or Usain Bolt. That's it.
What a complete and utter tragedy and mind-boggling omission from a game you want to soak up and enjoy at your own pace.
I don't actually want to play it, now.

I just finished The Last Guardian yesterday in a single setting, about 10 hours all up. It was enjoyable enough, I didn't have any problems with the camera or control of the boy. Control of Trico was a different matter, I've seen the criticism of that and I think to some degree the fact he was a wild beast and hard to control made it more enjoyable. There were only a couple of times I get really frustrated and was at the controller throwing stage though.
Finally a release date for FF7r

the full opening scene for ff7 has been released. can't believe its 15 years since they released the tech demo in 2005 that teased us about a remake.

I only recently realised this remake will be episodic and apparently the first episode will only cover the story up to the point of leaving Midgar for the first time. Based on how slow they've been to get us to this point, how long will it be until we have all the episodes and can play the whole story from start to finish?
We could easily be looking at a decade or more of releases split over multiple console generations. I must admit my faith is wavering somewhat, Square Enix have had a pretty bad run with the Final Fantasy series since FFVIII and the recent stuff in particular has been crap. Maybe this remake can pull it back, though we may well be waiting a very long time to pass judgement on the full and finished product.

First episode is supposed to be as long as the entire original game, much more added to the story I would assume.
Haven't seen anything that is based outside Midgar though, not in any of the videos, news columns, images or anything. Could be a long while before the whole set is available for a one run through.

I was really excited for this, but echoing the other comments about episodic content and being left hanging I’m really not sure whether to continue my order. I have a feeling this will be £20 in a short time and might be worth waiting.
Although I really want to play it and support the developers.

I don't think it will be £20 any time, but regardless it will be a huge seller off the bat. The demo iss free, you should try it, it is visually stunning and although the battles will take time to learn that will come with time. But like with all episodic games, it may be worth waiting for all episodes to come out before diving in. Although I really want to play it and support the developers.
To not get lost in the Lockdown Games thread, is anyone else playing FF7?
As a fan of the original this is just brilliant. Visuals are amazing, soundtrack is sublime and the characters are so much fuller because of it. Still making my way through at 35 hours and counting. There is a bit of filler in some side quests but it’s just a brilliant game. I'm sure even those not familiar with the original will have a great time with this. Up there with the very very best

I decided to start playing FF7r on friday (even though i bought it on launch).
love it so far. but my one problem is.... the PS4 (non pro) the fan goes mental. I might as well be playing microsoft flight simulator because the fans make it sound like a jet engine.
it's not much of an issue as i use a headset. but a little concerning to hear when I'm taking a break and have it paused.
