As others have said, Mass Effect would be awesome but it would be very difficult to pull off. It's one of those games that is really made by the users actions.

I'd like a Bioshock film, based on Rapture. Also a Mechwarrior film, just to satisfy my lust for giant fighting robots!
Bioshock is a great shout! Awesome games. Preferred the first two over Infinite.

Here is a list of all video games that have been made into movies (almost 30 in total - with a few coming up in the next year or so).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_...

The highest rotten tomato rating any of them got was 44% (Final Fantasy) - and almost 2/3rds of them scored less than 20%.
Resident Evil movies weren't too bad imo. Especially if you are a fan of the games.

Based on that link the Alone in the Dark movie has got to be worth a watch just to see how bad it is!! Might see if it is on Netflix!

A decent one, certainly compared to the first pathetic attempt, is Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. It was done by fans of the genre from what I understand, and focuses on a few key characters with quite a lot of depth to it. Far better than the JCVD version. I think it's freely available to watch on youtube, and well worth a watch as far as video game films go.

I think Mass Effect could work. Most players know of the varying possible storylines so it wouldn't hurt to just follow one.

Alternatively, following a minor character in the universe like Zaeed could be pretty good. His back story sounded interesting and could make a fantastic anti-hero.

"Edge of Tomorrow" is based on every bloody game where you only complete it by figuring out how not to get killed the way you did on the last attempt.
Ain't that the truth. Especially with the game Bloodborne.

I played this space shoot em up once, and it struck me that it'd make a great film franchise. Called x wing or summit.

Company Of Heroes wasn't too bad, didn't really follow the games though.

Did anyone see the Need For Speed film? Any opinions?
Yes, it was awful.
I quite liked it getmecoat

From that Wiki link, I don't think Rainbow Six should really be a game turned into a movie, rather a book that was turned into both. The book is pretty damn awesome and would definitely recommend it if you haven't read it smile

First two RE movies were good, however all the sequels were just 'rinse and repeat' and brought no new story or interest to the series.

I want a Halo film made, the short clips that have been made prove that it's possible, so they just need to extend it. It has such potential not to be st but I guess it would depend on who directed it.

It's actually based on a Manga called All You Need Is Kill.

My main problem with a movies based on Bioshock, Mass Effect or whatever is that how does a twoish hour movie do justice to a narrative that takes tens of hours to come together in the games?

I could see a companion movie working in this scenario. Not actually based on the games but set in the same universe and canon to the ongoing story.

Probably.....

Seth Macfarlane
Robert Downey Jr
Nathan Fillion

I think any of them could do a pretty good job.

Far Cry was pretty shoite (Uwe Boll again) and you can't get much more simple than that plot!

Half-Life cannot be touched because whoever tries to voice Gordo WILL be hated for some reason.

I think Bioshock could work, any of the three. Felt like a film playing them! And Resistance 3 was so over the top I felt like an action hero and loved almost all of it!

I'd love to see a Borderlands movie, with Handsome Jack being the main guy. He had me in stitches throughout 2 and The Pre Sequel!

Remember being so excited when they announced a max payne film was being made, And then..... well we all know how that turned out. The game was a classic and the comic strip noir storytale was great. It would of been an excellent dub over film told like the game, But instead they turned it into some mythical crap/hollywood movie.
This post is all the evidence the OP needs. Max Payne was a great story in the game and they utterly ruined it in the film. Whoever picked Marky Mark Wahlberg to play as Max wants a prize kicking for that decision, he was rubbish even by his own standards. The liberties taken with the storyline for the film changed the entire dynamic altogether and not for the better.

It should have been made by the same people that did Sin City, stuck to the original story and had someone like Ray Liota as Max. He even looks a bit like Max!

Bryan Cranston might work as Freeman. He has the look.

I was going to say the Uncharted games would make good movies, especially with Nathan Fillion as Drake. But then they'd just end up being too much like Indiana Jones.
