I tried this last night for a few minutes with a 22B.
With various mods including removing under-steer with a thicker ARB I could do a '54 around Brands Indy circuit which I'm not sure is good enough to compete.
Is a lot about finding the right car sometimes. It may be that the 22b doesn't suit this brake horse/pi limit. Once we're set on the regulations I'll upload the tune for the car I'll be using. The best bits about these race nights is the banter and the ability to run close to other clean racers, not running off into the distance and winning by a mile. With various mods including removing under-steer with a thicker ARB I could do a '54 around Brands Indy circuit which I'm not sure is good enough to compete.
Although I'm a fan of 4WD, the suggestion to take them out doesn't strike me as unreasonable.

From the 4wd cars ive made so far, none of them seem as competitive as the fwd and rwd ones i have made.
Wierdly fwd seems the best, the hondas are very fast.
I think you're right. The 22B didn't strike me as very quick around Brands hatch Indy. It also, very oddly seems to bog down on the start which is the opposite of what you'd expect.Wierdly fwd seems the best, the hondas are very fast.
It's quite challenging to make a good car for this! I've done an E36 M3 which should be okay? Within guidelines etc and my fastest around the Indy is in the high 53s. Just can't seem to stop the rear stepping out
Looking forward to making my own team livery but I'm away on holiday for a week

Updated rules in the original post, taking into account what's been said.
PI is A620
Tyres are max 20" and 265 width now. The Audi TT has 20" standard wheels and the BMW 1M has 265 rear tyres.
I'm fine with saloons, hatchbacks, estates and saloon/hatch based coupes like Corrado, M235i, etc and agree with the point about the Japanese RWD stuff. Not sure on the Celicas.
Alfa, Audi, Honda/Acura, BMW, Ford, Mazda, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault, Toyota, Vauxhall, VW and Volvo have all been in BTCC
Of the others, Dodge Neon, Scion TC, Eagle Talon/Mitsubishi Eclipse have been in US based series.

I've tried 2 4wd tunes the escort and s3 because of the pi drop now they are not fast down the straights with only 300hp and quite alot heavier than the fwd cars i would say about 5mph down on brands indy on bigger tracks it will be alot maybe they need more pi too even thing up. I'll leave it up too you. alan

They do have greater stabillity and they are easier to drive though, I suppose thats the benefit off picking 4wd though, I dont think they need a pi increase as they will be quicker out of corners and they will have a massive benefit when it comes to any races in the rain. But thats just my 2p
Driven a few cars around Catalunya National tonight, as a 3 laps in a car and note the fastest lap to see what's what. No tuning yet, just the upgrades at stock settings, I'll tweak the settings once I'm settled on something, but I know I won't be driving a RWD car, BMWs were way too tail happy for me . And yes the Alfa 155 was slow for me too.
I've got a 2 second difference between the good and bad so far (not counting BMWs). FWD cars have varying amounts of understeer (Astra Tech Line was the worst to get to turn), not decided on FWD or 4WD, so I'll try some more out tomorrow.
