Right , what a weekend !
My friend and his 5 yr old turned up at 1 yesterday to help me build it. The build itself minus gpu didnt take long at all. The issue we had was windows 7 ,trying to get it onto a skylake build was unreal. The bios wouldnt see the drivers on the usb stick no matter what my mate did (IT GURU ,BUILT 800 PCs) . Time went on and by the end of the first boxing match at 6 he went home. Within the next 2 hours and a few beers i had windows 7 installed and on , although i had windows 10 downloading on the laptop . I was buzzing but then i found out no driver worked,so no internet or usb .
This morning i got my ass to pcworld at 10 to pick up the worlds most overpriced dvd drive . Hooked it up but the pc would not boot into windows at all, disconnected and plugged it in when windows was up but the dvd just crashed explorer so.... I gave up.
Then the door knocked and the gpu turned up ,so i decided to get windows 10 on and boom .Within 10mins i had a virus ,so it was time to install the gpu and do a clean install again.
I let my mate take control via teamviewer to make sure it was all running sweet.Steam was installed and dirt downloaded .
Then the problem arised , 94"c temps for the gpu running dirt at 3100x1800 @ ultra . The stupid software doesn't let you save a custom fan profile so the temps rocket if you dont lock the fans at 75% .Anyway next weekend there will be a teardown to insert my 230mm intake fan .
I had the exact same issue on my recent build. Could not get windows 7 on at all. Tried everything for about 6 hours!!My friend and his 5 yr old turned up at 1 yesterday to help me build it. Eventually thought sod it, lets see if my 7 Key will work with 10 and luck would have it they have just started allowing this!
10 loaded in about 20 mins and up and running.

Monitor is great. I don't care enough about response times to have needed G-Sync and this has one of the best panels around.
G-sync isn't just about response times, it stops screen tear and stutter too. I was dubious at first but after trying one, I wouldn't go back. If you think about it logically, matching the monitors refresh rate to what the gpu is outputting is a no-brainer.Guvernator said:

I can honestly say that I don't notice any screen tear.
Fair enough, I've noticed it before, mainly on laptop screens to be fair and my new screen seems silky smooth in comparison. How much of this is down to G-sync and how much to the decent spec on the PC I have no idea though. As a comparison though I have hooked up my PC to the projector too and in comparison, the monitor definitely seems smoother, again not sure how much of this is psychological though.
Nice system Zod, that monitor looks fantastic.
Mine is nearly ready and will post the current list a little later with the 3d Mark score. I was holding off on a monitor as I was waiting for the HTC Vive to come out as I though it might negate a new monitor.
I know it is very basic but worth mentioning that you are putting the use boot drive in the specified motherboard boot slot, I have fallen for that before.

Spec
Coolmaster Cosmo 2 Full Tower
ASUS Rampage V Extreme USB3.1
Intel I7 5930k @4.2 (was Pre clocked to 4.4 but not pushing it yet)
Corsair H100i GTX Hydro Cooler
32GB (4x8GB) Vengeance LPX, 3000MHz
2X GeForce GTX 980 Ti EVGA Classified SC Edition
1050W Seasonic 1050XP3 PSU
ScanDisk 480GB Extreme PRO SSD (plumbed in but not doing anything yet)
Seagate 4TB/8GB Serial 3.5 inch Solid State Hybrid Drive (for Steam and games etc, plumbed in but not running yet)
Very please with it so far, might need to look at cooling again, the CPU is fine, but the top of the case gets very warm near the front out the way of the Rads for the Hydro Cooler, doesn't seem to be enough room to get a fan in there.

Very jealous, I'll have to make do with a single 980ti for now
Had been holding off for a while but couldn't wait any longer.
Sadly, still running a 3 year old Asus HD monitor, 4k is next on my list and open to suggestions, preferably 32inch.
The reason I held off was because, mainly using it for racing sims and flight sims I was really interested in a VR set and the HTC Vive in particular which, according to everything I read , was due to be out on the 8th December, this looks like being next year now but likely priced at 400 quid, having both seemed a bit pointless.

Great numbers Matty, the power of 980Ti SLi
For some strange reason though I have an inherent dislike of SLi, not really sure why so I'll probably stick with the single Ti as it seems to perform admirably at 1440p and then move onto pascal in a couple of years. On another note, just built my new rig and already thinking about my next upgrade path. Welcome back to the wonderful world of PC gaming.

I know what you mean. I've had several SLI builds, but never quite felt I was getting the full benefit of two cards. Then there's always the fact that you spend all that money only for a new card to appear on the horizon within six months that is faster than your SLI pairing on its own. I have a feeling that it's probably a better investment to buy one card per generation and upgrade when the next generation (not the Ti version) comes out. Last decade, the annual power jump was massive and required, so I upgraded every year, sometimes more than once. These days, despite jumps in resolution, the annual upgrade isn't needed any more. I am sad enough to remember my graphics card sequence:
1997 Rendition Verite + Voodoo 2
1998 TNT + Voodoo 2
1999 TNT2 Ultra
1999 GeForce 256, then GeForce DDR in the same year
2000 GeForce 2 Ultra
2001 GeForce 3
2002 GeForce 4600Ti
2003 Geforce 5900
2004 GeForce 6800
2005 GeForce 7800 SLI
2006 GeForce 8800 GTX SLI
then I skipped the 9800 and the 280 and waited a long time
2010 GeForce 480 GTX SLI
2011 GeForce 590 (died, thanks to a faulty power supply, along with the motherboard)
2012 GeForce 680 GTX
2014 GeForce 980 GTX
I still have every single one.

That's some serious GPU horsepower over the years. I only got back into PC gaming after my Evesham Laptop (AMD64 Ati 9600 GPU) could no-longer play games.... My gpus though are more the bottom end of gaming:1997 Rendition Verite + Voodoo 2
