So much fun already... and I've just been mooching on the starter Island whilst I awaited the patch to download.

Highlight has to be firing a cable line to a rock and inadvertently drop-kicking a goat on the way past. hehenono

So may good games to play but I'm sure this will get a hammering over Xmas.

Mines dispatched smile £31 from zavvi
My bargain Zavvi purchase arrived on Saturday so I spent most of the afternoon playing it. Having been a devotee of GTA for the last 2 years, and never having played the previous Just Cause releases, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it from the off. It does have a choppy frame rate on PS4 from time to time, which I hope will be fixed in patches, but I don't really mind.

Surprised how cheap it was at Zavvi when I'd had an Amazon pre-order in for months; cancelled that last week because it didn't look like it would drop anywhere near £31.99.

Hmmm that sucks! However I've not seen many graphics cards fail so suddenly, I'd be more inclined to point the finger at Windows having a funny turn or the SLi drivers. Have you tried removing both cards, reverting to onboard graphics then putting the 780's back in one at a time? Alternate between both cards one at a time too before putting them both in.

For me no. It's comedy/cartoon violence IMO.
Thanks for that - anybody else care to comment please?

Mine should arrive tomorrow, so I'll be able to pass comment later on in the day. Really enjoyed Just Cause 2 on PS3 and despite the rather negative reviews out there, I'm more than willing to take a chance on it (PS4 version). Fraction under £35 on Shopto.net in case anyone is interested (at the time I ordered it)

Not sure how I'll balance my play time between this and FO4 though

Negative reviews?? The ones I've seen have been mostly positive getting 8/10, metacritic has it at 82. The two main complaints I've seen are framerate slow down (shouldn't be a problem for me on PC) and that it gets a bit repetitive but so was JC2, the hook was making your own fun by finding more and more inventive ways to take out the bad guys\bases etc.

It was more perceived performance issues on the consoles I think (slowdown like you mention) but I just watched a bit of You Tube actual gameplay footage and it looks fine to me but will find out tomorrow I hope. I have no problem with the slightly repetitive nature because I love the fly / grapple around and blow stuff up type of gameplay and I can't wait to try out the multiple tether drag 'n crush technique thumbup

It's a bit worrying that a few triple AAA titles seem to be struggling already to run on the "next gen" consoles, they've only been out for 2 years. I suspect this generation of console won't have the longevity of the 360\PS3 and will need to be replaced sooner.

It's a catch 22 for game designers.
I've yet to find a PS4 game that is unplayable or suffers huge FPS drops.
Not even Fallout 4.
24 FPS is the lowest I think on PS4 on JC3 according to online, and as it's only during intense explosions right infront of your face I think this is acceptable.

Game designers are told and demanded that they provide AMAZING graphics or they'll get compared to the last gen games.

I have a ps4 and while I love it, I think they underspecced it, the Xboxone is even worse and can't really handle 1080p properly. They knew HD\1080p was going to be the minimum spec as 1080p TV's were out and people were upgrading already so they should have at least speeced them to be able to handle that without too much issue.

I've not experienced much slow down on most games so far but it does sometimes happen and it can only get worse. They really should have thought about future proofing more considering the average lifespan of a console is about 5 years. I think by this time next year they'll really be struggling, PC's are knocking on the door of 4k gaming already.

Difficult to compare console gaming with that on PC simply because the hardware that was specced for the current gen consoles was probably quite high end when in development (what, 4 or 5 years ago now?) whereas a new GFX card comes out for the PC and you can simply swap it out in most cases. Plus optimised drivers for certain games and PCs will always out perform the consoles pretty much

Consoles are convenient if compromised whereas the PC is for the person who wants to squeeze as much out of a title as possible accepting the inevitable extra costs of having to upgrade to push the limits. Sadly developers are never going to release an AAA title which is so optimised for a PC as to be unplayable on the consoles due to the size of the console market.

Again I'm not knocking consoles, they are great, highly stable, I think my ps4 has only crashed twice in the two years I've had it and they are truly plug and play making the PC seem like a right faff in comparison. However even when they were released the hardware wasn't top spec for the time, they were both released with low to mid end graphics cards for example which are now starting to show the strain. I realise cost was a big factor but games like JC 3 push the envelope of what they are capable of and its only going to get worse. Just wish they put top a end card in it, then you wouldn't get the slow down issues on the newer games.

What. The. fk. Is with all the loading screens?! Literally everything you do - loading screen!

This may kill the game for me.

On what platform out of interest? This is one criticism that I had forgotten about when I mentioned "negative reviews" earlier, very long load times at least on the PS4 version

Great fun so far but yes,the loading screens are a bit of a pain. Sometimes it is taking over two minutes to reload a mission if you get killed!
I can see this is going to take the shine off it. PS4

been playing today on xbone - good fun so far! using the grapples/parachute/wing suit took a little getting used to, I kept face planting when trying to grapple with the wingsuit

Load screens are pretty annoying one took about 5 minutes when I died. Also its crashed once, had to reset the console and glitched/got stuck for about 30 seconds when a load of stuff all exploded at the same time.

That's true but how much is it to build a 4k capable PC? You're looking well over £1000 plus monitor, keyboards, etc.
A decent keyboard costs £60!

Anyway I played it yesterday, did one mission. Seems very fun. Just getting used to the controls again, of zip lining etc.
The little mess-around area when it was installing was nice too.
Overall really like it smile
