I have a ps4 and while I love it, I think they underspecced it, the Xboxone is even worse and can't really handle 1080p properly. They knew HD\1080p was going to be the minimum spec as 1080p TV's were out and people were upgrading already so they should have at least speeced them to be able to handle that without too much issue.
I've not experienced much slow down on most games so far but it does sometimes happen and it can only get worse. They really should have thought about future proofing more considering the average lifespan of a console is about 5 years. I think by this time next year they'll really be struggling, PC's are knocking on the door of 4k gaming already.
As they get more used to working with a console they make more efficient use of the hardware available. Just look at the first ever ps3 game vs something like Skyrim...I've not experienced much slow down on most games so far but it does sometimes happen and it can only get worse. You can quote John Carmack who said that they hadn't even finished exploiting the full capability of the PS3 when the PS4 arrived.

Well I have stuck with this despite the loading times and in general, my god its fun!
I have mostly just spent time liberating towns etc and it basically never loads in that case, only when doing story missions so not too bad. The game is great fun but loading times are a shambles considering there are basically none in GTA5.

I read a brief article that says Avalanche are looking into the many issues being reported and will be preparing a patch to hopefully address some of the major ones, no word on timescales for that though
My copy arrived this morning, the patch has been downloaded and now its all installed so I'll be giving it a go over the lunch period

Been playing this on PC the past couple of days. Lots of fun to be had jumping cars off cliffs into petrol stations and grappling baddies together and watching them splat.
Bit crashy, and the online element is dreadfully unreliable with constant disconnections but I can live with it.
No problems with load times, but I am running it off an SSD which helps a lot.

I was hoping running it on SSD on PC would help, that's good news. What's the online like, when you can play it?Bit crashy, and the online element is dreadfully unreliable with constant disconnections but I can live with it.

The online is limited to having leaderboards for various things - longest drift, longest grapple, most headshots, etc. When you do one of these things, you see a little leaderboard in the corner of the screen ranking you against a bunch of strangers. That's basically it - and periodically I get "connection to the Square Enix servers was not available", so I go offline and continue. Problem is, every time you start a mission or task, it tries to go back online, so if you have the same problem you spend a long time looking at "connecting..." screens.

Hmm that's rubbish, I thought for a second it had some sort of GTA online element. That's basically it - and periodically I get "connection to the Square Enix servers was not available", so I go offline and continue. Initial impressions then based on doing a couple of missions only (PS4)
Is it really an 18 title? - Personally I don't think so based on that there isn't any real gore (no head explosions or anything of that nature) just the expected blood effects on shooting the baddies. It's probably the perceived level of violence that gets it an 18 rating (because there's lots of that, think of the movie Commando at the end compound scene and that's JC3 all over as JC2 was before it)
Graphics - look good to my eye, saw minor frame rate slowdown on occasion but nothing that would put me off and a few glitches (like floating dead bodies and bits of flickering blown up statue). Explosions and those sort of effects are great!
Gameplay - a little early to say but seems solid and a lot of fun zipping around using the wingsuit / grapple / parachute. No multi-player aside from leaderboards as people have already said
Loading times - aside from the initial game launch which took a while and actually ended up trying to get me to create an account on Square Enix (I skipped it), I didn't think the load times were too bad in all honesty although they may get worse the deeper into the game I get. Would not be a deal breaker for me at all (although I do run a SS hybrid hard disk in my PS4 so that may help a little)
I like it, pretty mindless run / drive / fly / grapple around and blow everything up game (just like JC2) with a few extra modes thrown in plus a basic progression system based around gear & vehicle unlockables
Worth my £35 no doubt, lots of fun to be had

Thankfully I've not had any crashes so far and I'm about 4 or 5 story missions in now. The last one was tough though and would have benefited from clearing the area beforehand so I'm going back to liberating settlements before progressing any further.
Load times have improved a bit by logging out of PSN before playing the game and thus forcing offline mode
It's not perfect and there can be some real frustrating moments (like getting run over time and time again until dead) but overall I'm still happy with it

Really enjoying this on PC. Really good fun. I've now taken to using helicopters a lot and hijacking a land vehicle really helps with the military bases. If you're going to try a helicopter make sure you hack or destroy all the SAM sites first.
I've also been mostly tethering bad guys to the gas cylinders and even if you just shoot them once they take off like a rocket, dragging the bad guy behind them. Much hilarity. I haven't done a single gear mission or challenge yet though.

There's no parity to loading times.
Restarting a challenge can sometimes take 30 seconds, sometimes it can take 2 minutes.
But I really am enjoying the games, so far the load times are not too annoying. I've liberated two areas within the first island. I'm going back to get the North and South islands and will do a few more story missions.
Some of the challenges are proper tough!

The fighter jet with the carpet bombs is brilliant. Ive just been flying round doing missile and bomb runs. Normally destroy at least half of the targets at each base without even going anywhere near it
So fun.
Just got the game, where can I get the jet?So fun.
