Anyone Bought Rise of the Tomb Raider?
Discussion
I really want this, but I suspect it will end up costing £300.
My gaming PC had a GTX970, but the HTPC is using an AMD A10, which runs Tomb Raider OK at 720. This sort of game feels best with a controller and I am enjoying a bit of couch gaming.
Looks like a GTX960-970 may be being purchased. Might get an SSD whilst I am in there...

I mean, holy crap that looks gorgeous. But I thought it looked stunning on a boggo XB1 for me. Cudos though.
I left her in a vest top the whole way through. Aren't I mean.
Yes, it's actually one of the best PC ports in a longtime - and they are continuing to patch it and add extra options to the PC version which is really great to see.I left her in a vest top the whole way through. Aren't I mean.
It really is stunning though:
I do still get the occasional bout of slowdown even with a 970GTX.

Ah haven't played for a week or so... need to get back into her I mean it... no wait...
Stunning graphics asides, how does it compare to the 2013 version? I take it it's a much bigger game? More areas to explore? Think I'm between 15-20% in so far.
The areas are much more open and larger, plus the custom one-off tombs / crypts are much more interesting. Plus add in the crafting element (for example hunting deer etc) and it is a much better game. Her movement is also vastly improved, what with the ability to throw her axe you get later on and swing from it. I'm about 75% through and still thoroughly enjoying it (one of the grenade upgrades for the bow and arrow - where you fire an explosive grenade that then explodes into 5 smaller ones - is highly amusing).Stunning graphics asides, how does it compare to the 2013 version? If you haven't got the DLC (the Endurance and Witch DLC) that's worth getting too.
Oh, and I have not encountered any QTE's apart from the one with the Bear at the start, which is a massive improvement compared to the previous one. It's almost like they forgot they had included the one at the start and forgot to take it out.

Ah that's good, I was forever getting Lara impaled on a tree/squashed by a collapsing cave/falling into the abyss/falling onto spikes and getting impaled/falling into hard rocks/getting smashed in the face/getting mauled in the face etc. etc.vonuber said:

Power socket on GPU means it won't fit. Bum biscuits.
New Case ordered. Turning into an expensive game this one.
