Anyone playing this yet? Played the trial and it was amazing. Basicly a big survival mine craft with dinosaurs.

It does have some severe server issues right now which is understandable since its in the game preview.

Anyone want a game my get is dalzo

Myself and a few friends had been keeping an eye out for it until a few months ago. Not sure how this came to the preview programme without us realising but there will probably be a few more on it in the next few days.

Is it the standard £25?

I still have you on my friends list from Y1 Destiny so will set something up in the next few days (probably after xmas now).

I have it and have been playing the solo offline version for about 20 hours...it's hard! Can take an hour to tame a dino to have it killed in 30 seconds! I'm kind of playing it like a dino-minecraft and enjoying it. Its looks beautiful and sometimes I spend ages watching the other Dinos interract or get eaten by a rex/carno/raptor. My biggest bugbear for me is the fact that when you die everything you own and wear which is on your person goes into a rucksack which stays where you died-but only for like 20 minutes, also if you can find the rucksack after you respawn it is still likely that whatever killed you is still hanging around, and if you die again you lose the 1st rucksack and all your gear, also if you die in the jungle it is almost impossible to find your rucksack!

I have also spent a small amount of time on the online PVE and it is more fun but at the moment all lobbies seem to be full constantly and you have to use the same server if you want your existing survivor, for example I got up to level 5 on server 21 and had to log off, now I cant even find server 21! If I use any other server I have to start from scratch. This does not apply to the offline solo game tho. I guess this game is not finished so lots of these problems will be ironed out in due course.

Yeah it won't realise it's potential until they sort the server issues out.

My biggest achievement from playing solo so far was getting food poisoning (in my desperation I ate raw meat) and then left a trail of poo along the beach...

The non solo offline works a bit like minecraft in that you can host one for you and friends but you can only get on with the original host..... unless someone wants to volunteer using their xbone to host the server!?

All that jazz

I got it on the PC a while ago based on what I'd seen online from people playing it. Looked really good and involving. The reality is that the starting "curve" is incredibly steep and hard unless you vastly alter the game configs to make it easier (reduce taming time for example, but not sure if you can do that on Eggbox). I got sick to death of trying to tame a simple dilo without getting killed over and over and that gets annoying really quickly, especially if you die at night as without your torch (which is now in your backpack) you have no light to see where your backpack is! The ultra dark night time (no st Sherlock) is also annoying when you're starting off as you can't see st without holding a torch and you can't do anything with the torch in your hand, so if you want to do anything at night you have to do it in complete darkness. I'm generally a patient and methodical guy when it comes to playing games but all the above BS pissed me off intensely and I haven't played it since. Those youtubers that do play it and upload footage have already reached the point where they have their level 200+ Rexes and can ROFLstomp anything they come across, including the brood mother so are now left with nothing else to do but build shacks to house their dinos which is also pretty dull.

In short, it's a bloody painful and annoying grind on default settings and once the novelty of taming dinos has worn off you'll be bored stless. I think it's worse than Minecraft in that respect tbh, and I've played a LOT of Minecraft.

Irrotational

I've got the trial downloaded but not fired it up yet...been doing challenge mode and sparrow racing on destiny. Recognise a couple of names from that game! smile

I saw an article that said if you had a "spare" Xbox one you could set it up as a permanent server or something...

I guess the long term attraction , like Minecraft, is having a long running server and people building a permanent base and some creature comforts...

I know very little about it so far.

Server problems seem to be fixed

Managed to jump into pvp and it's a lot of fun, in a tribe and managed to tame a turtle thing.
You do get killed a lot but if you treat it as more of a survival game than minecraft it's easier.

Also found that sometimes it's easier being that dick that kills people on site, had a 2 people kill me on site when I just started , found them later and they both had loads of gear! Quickly sneaked up behind them and speared them

FYI the club is completely OP if you can get the jump on people. Knocks them out in 2-3 swings depending on your melee...

I have almost 1K hours logged on the pc version, it's a fantastic game.

Dalzo, sent you a message yesterday.

We have a tribe set up in NA 385, reasonably well defended base on an island in the middle of a lake, tamed Stego, Trike and a few more. In fact the day crew are currently taming a Carno and Ankylo.

We did have two raptors but we got raided through the night and lost a few dinos. We're low levels compared to other tribes on the server but getting there.

If anyone wants to join then get in 385 send A Naughty Peach, proffitt20 or me (simo1863, if I'm on) a message.

Haven't ventured into the big bad PVP world yet but I'm running a world for me and my son at home and have a good few hours logged so far (PC version). Great fun once you get over the afore-mentioned initial hump (being killed by a Compy for the third time in a hour is, frankly, no fun at all) although I will confess to a couple of server tweaks (increase resource collection and decrease taming time) to speed things along a bit.

Plenty of things to do and riding my Sarcosuchus to go hunting Megalodons is simply one of the coolest things I've ever done in any game, ever biggrin

PvP is a lot of fun but it's brutal. As soon as you have anything of worth other tribes are wanting it.

I spent most of last night unsuccessfully trying to join the server. Tribemates managed to upgrade the settlement to stone though and completed two spike walls encircling it. One of the alpha tribes disbanded and the game seems to have clogged with lots of lone players so last night was the first night where there wasn't even an attempted raid and our incognito approach seems to be failing as we have about 3 small tribes building near us and attempting to trade.

Went on my private game and went flying (and crashing to my death) for the first time. Couldn't find my body or the saddle so will start from scratch but I enjoy experimenting in my own x6 game.

Do you mean the server was full? it shows the number of players in each server at the selection page btw

on the xbone every server is full during any USA daylight hours and about 99% full the rest of the time.

I even resorted to starting a character on a different server but every time I joined a 69/70 it would fill before I joined.

I think they massively underestimated how popular it would be on consoles.

Yea they've said in recent Q&As that Microsoft are making it extremely difficult to bring up new servers so they're not getting as many up as fast as they'd like.
