There are full blown tribe wars going on in our server at the moment but luckily they seem to leave us mostly alone. The biggest tribe wiped out the second biggest after a misunderstanding with a guy on one of the giant frogs accidentally landing in their base.

Every night someone from 'the Wolves' attacks us, manages to kill a raptor and something else minor and ends up dying at the hands of our Carno. So we've progressed from being extorted to a minor attack every night.

There are still two, maybe three tribes that could wipe us out if they wanted but it would cost them to do so and would require a lot of them online at the same time.

not sure on breeding. We've a few mating couples (a pair of Dodos, a pair of the big turle thingys, two pairs of Dilos and two pairs of Raptors) but some cretin keeps eating the eggs although it's not one of my projects to be honest. Do you have to feed them as soon as they hatch? Or incubate them somehow?

Our power on the server really is growing. Tamed a Sarco (called Snappy obviously) and a T-Rex last night. We've had a few attempted break ins recently but only lose the odd raptor and tend to kill whoever is trying.

We've an outer wood fence and double spike wall in front of it, then a lake (where the Sarco is) surrounding an inner stone keep, double fenced and double spike walled too.

One of the bigger tribes could still wipe us out if they wanted but it'd cost them a lot and they'd need a good amount of explosives.

The good thing about the Rex is that if he's attacked when we're offline he'll just hop the fence and eat whatever is attacking him then go back.

EDIT: Found a pretty useful breeding guide http://orcz.com/ARK_Survival_Evolved:_Breeding_Din...

Disastrous weekend!

The biggest tribe on our server merged with a few more smaller ones. One of their members left a raptor just outside our base which made us nervous. We handled it diplomatically, didn't attack it, let them know and someone came and collected it.

Somehow six of their more powerful members used it as a justification to attack us, claiming that we'd taken it. All flew in on Argents, totally negating our outer defences. Our Dinos took a couple out but they were just picking the smaller ones up, flying high and dropping them to their deaths. We had crossbows, they had longneck rifles and swords so we stood no chance. We lost 2 Dodos, 4 Dilos, 3 Trikes, 5 Raptors, 2 Pulmos, 2 Carbos, 1 Sarco, 1 Carno and 1 Rex, 1 Stego.

They then C4'd all the buildings and took everything of value.

We now exist on a secondary base we'd set up on a raft with some of the scrapped materials from the leftovers of the base. Not a single tamed dino to our names, wandering aimlessly.

The server is too overrun by that one tribe. Our plans are now revenge then uploading characters, to move to one of the new servers coming on with tomorrows update.

The revenge plot consists of our highest level player leaving our tribe and joining theirs. He's offering everything we have left (they like to extort smaller tribes for membership/not to be destroyed) and then he is to unclaim/kill as many dinos as possible, steal then use as many explosives as he can and generally fk st up from inside before leaving and uploading his character.

yeah, the nature of PvP is that you can lose anything in a heartbeat and that's what makes it fun.

It's a bitter pill at the moment (after a lot of work) but the hard lesson we've learnt is that you can't be a big player on a server with a tribe of 5 part timers. They had 35+ and some literally just sleep and Ark.

The plan for the new server is to spawn in one of the hardest locations, live a bleak existence to begin with, kill on sight and tame flying mounts ASAP.

Everything you've said right there is why no-one plays the game anymore (except those that have far too much time on their hands).

LLots of people are playing it, so many that they are having to put new servers on to host more worlds.

It is brutal in terms of PVP but then that is what you play PVP for. It is just the same as something like WoW where high levels will run around zones ganking low levels for fun (and it is). Most of the fun of playing in PVP is being on edge that you're about the get fked by someone else and living in fear of that, ARK does this perfectly and certainly isn't for carebears. If you want to just build stuff then there are PVE games available for that.

I played a game on a friend’s hosted server the other day with my brother and 2 friends and we did 2v2 with our bases about 200 metres apart and all on voice comms, it was properly funny screwing each other over continually with drive by shootings from the rafts and night time raids in the dark.

Ok so took a punt on this and seems like fun. Progression seems to be so slow and it's a steep learning curve. Managed to build a small but and campfire and make myself some clothes. Now what? So far playing in my own hosted world which might not be helping.

The issue isn't with the PVP. It's the fact that you can't leave the server once on it so while you're working and sleeping in real life, some little kid is destroying all your hard work. That gets tiresome very very fast.

What do they do to combat it though? Take your player out the world and make your base and dinos indestructible?

Anyway I'm back from Australia on Sunday so should be on if I'm not too jet lagged , need to start a new character on a ph server though.

The good thing about the online servers being so busy at peak times is that I get to lvl-up my solo game when I can't be arsed spamming the join button, got my first solo flyer last night....I'm absolutely loving this game.

An extra 100+ servers coming this week.

Yes there are PvE servers, PvP is so much fun though

Not a lot really. Your character sleeps, ideally in a building.

Other players can't open doors, they have to break them and there are tierd levels to it. Thatch can be destroyed by anything, You need dinosaurs, metal tools or better to destroy wood, stone structures are damaged by the bigger dinosaurs and explosives (it is damaged by metal tools but you'd be there for hours), explosives destroy metal structures but it takes a lot and I don't think any dinosaurs can damage them.

You can also set dinosaurs to protect you while you're away but that relies on the rather dumb/buggy AI.

You stand a better chance of surviving in PvP if you're in a tribe, bigger the better, with tribe members in different time zones. That comes with it's own frustrations though, fellow tribe members can take all your materials and command all the tribes dinosaurs.

Would be good to get a PH Server but I doubt anyone has a spare xbone to set up as one? Alternatively we could all join the same official server. When the new servers come out lets pick a quiet EU one and join.

Gav, on private games you can up the xp, harvest amount and taming speed as well as a few other useful stats. I use it as a way of experimenting with what I want to do in PvP, figuring out how building works and what I do and don't want to unlock next.

Once you tame your first dinosaur you get addicted, taming anything that comes near you, stuff that flies, stuff that swims etc..... until some comes and wipes them out while you're at work!

A lot of the dinosaurs have unique abilities too. I think Trikes have a berry farming multiplier, some flying mounts can pick up other players and smaller dinos. Ankylos can farm metal.

So having played and not gotten very far. It would be good if we could get a PH tribe together and pick a server.

Happy to join an existing one if there is one.

Good idea tbh, especially with the 100+ new servers due to come online imminently
I'd be up for starting another character with a PHer tribe on PvE or PvP

Pick the highest server number you can waaaaaaay down the list
