Any thoughts on spawn areas?

I think a harder spawn like North 3 might be better. You've access to the more useful dinos, a short fly to Carno Island and not far from the snow biome. Other players will stay clear from spawning there too. It'll be a tough, hard existence to begin with but will be better in the long term.

Graham, you can host a private game but other players can only stray so far from the host, it's still good fun though. If we want our own server you have to set up an additional xbone as a standalone server. It's a lot more buggy/laggy than the official ones and would cost a lot!

Is the server me and Dalzo picked. Seemed to have most available places. We started messing in West 2 on the beach by the red tower.

Come join tribe of PH plan to level as much as possible then establish a proper base

As gav has said na 106 it's pretty empty during the day but filled up around 10 o'clock.
From the Ingame chat the easy spawns are the usual war zone.

We're at west 2 and keep getting attacked by a tribe of 2. Although they will be easily handled once we level up ,they don't have any dinos yet.

Apart from them the rest of the place is pretty peaceful.

What a difference it makes playing with a team mate, we will own the place if we manage 5 or 6 players on regularly

Hope everyone can make it online Wednesday go for 6pm? Those who haven't got me on your friends list add: dalzo

btw another batch of new Xbox Servers just went live so these lower number/older ones will quieten down a bit.

I'm going to stay on my existing character/server (that I've been on since before Christmas) but will split my time between the two and join you guys if/when you are on

Sorry, didn't manage to get back on after 7 ish.

I'll 100% be on tonight. About 7:30-10.

Do we want to think about organising our unlocks? One do construction, one do weapons, one do mounts etc?

In terms of organising skills we started to do that last night. Dalzo took charge of construction and me clothes and pestle & mortar and other bits.

We built a wooden house but not expecting much left after we were killed last night. Still we seemed to level quicker and working together was so much more fun and made things easier.

As Dalzo said I think an organised group could take control quite easy. At the moment our location is more for levelling. We can pick a strategic location for our base as we get stronger.

Blade/Graham, we've set up a small base up to coast. If you go the red obelisk and follow the coast around (keeping the sea on your left) then we're a few minutes past it.

This is a map with the spawn positions;



We're a bit further up from the lowest West 3 spawn but use West 2 anyway as West 3 can put you up in the snow biome whereas 2 is always in the same rough area.

..... that's if we're still there and not wiped out.... We should be, there's no reason to wipe us out. It would cost more to break in than they'd loot from us.

Popped on this morning some helmet has raided us and placed us in cages outside the base.
Took all our stuff. I'm in the process of escaping right now then I'll head over and kill you lot so u can escape and respawn

That's pretty funny. Maybe we should spawn elsewhere and meet up.

North 3 would be a hard existence, big dinos live up there and tend to be higher levels but we could head West from there to the big gap where there are no spawn areas, or head inland perhaps. Mountains are a really good resource for metal, crystal and obsidian.

Nice, thanks I'll meet you guys later...That sort of area is a good location, sounds like where I want to eventually set up my second ranch on my single player character.

Speaking of which:
Busy time on the ranch right now, just ventured to frozen north after a Mammoth, returned with two more sabres and another Argent
(this game has a habit of distracting me from whatever I set out to do)
.....I've had to let my stegos and second bronto and other trike wander outside, as well and truly ran out of space.
I REALLY need to stop taming and start expanding.

I'm now close to 170hrs on this on Xbox One, split between PvP (as part of a tribe) and single player....what a game!

Is it too soon to call this GOTY?

Just have to remember PvP is about competing with others and the most valuable resource is your level (that you can't lose). Don't worry about losing stuff, we only had basic construction materials anyway.

Yup pita when he's stuck us in a cage, the worst thing you could do to someone on ark for no reason,just means he's going down though.

Should probs move a little more inland and disguise the base a little

....Or accept it and focus on lvl'ing up until you can use metal foundations/walls/ceilings/spikes/plant species X etc etc to keep stuff locked down properly

Wherever you build you are going to get raided.

Someone called royalty , it didn't show up if he was in a tribe so might just be someone looking to grief rather than a tribe trying to start a war

Yup pretty much the name of the game, hopefully we can get some better defences up and a possibly a better location,there was no low level noobs that kill on sight there but obviously we weren't welcome by the higher level people in the area

a raft might be the way to go. You can still get raided but it makes it a bit tougher to find, when you go off you can just sail to the edge of the sea and park up.
