single player demos have shown weapon pickups. Ignore the multi-player rubbish.

Doom.. single player is supposed to be class AND multi player is supposed to be extremely intense and fast paced with loud in your face weapons, that leaves you sweaty palmed.

BOTH.. we deserve BOTH!! :-)

doom was never about multiplayer, that was the epic Quake, UT and HL

Yeah the MP beta was a bit crap. I'm holding out for the single player anyway, not really a MP fan so not cancelling the pre-order yet.

They should've released the first SP level with the beta shareware style!

I'm not sure I am reading you right.

Doom was an amazing deathmatch game (well doom 2 was the main one I played to a serious level).

Whilst I'm aware that the 1 player experience was a key focus, how great it played for multiplayer was not an accident.

Read the MASTERS OF DOOM book that talks you through "id" story. John Romero was obsessed with multiplayer deathmatch (as I was too..).

Did I miss your point?

The truth of is that with all the multi platform support, the real twitch shooters are nerfed so they can be played with controllers. Multi player gaming leaves me cold nowadays.

I still set up CTF4 games of UT with a mate, Deadly Gazpacho is the map of champions.

I've got an order in for this from Amazon now. I thought I'd go with the season pass as the MP side of things looks good, and DOOM is something I can really cheer for. Not long to go now then.

This is listed for Xbox one I think. I have a 360 (2009) will it play on mine? Or will it never be available on 360? Thanks

I think they'll release the XB360 version around the same time as the SNES one.

Hl2 dm is still popular, fast paced and exciting..

I recently completed doom 3 with the redux pack. Boy was that intense! Graphically up to date. Scary. Fast paced and progressively difficult. It's got me right in the mood for d4 single player.

It's £23 for PC on cdkeys if anyone is interested.
I'm sure I'll enjoy the single player side. No interest in the multiplayer.

I've not seen the redux mod, I might have to give this a go. I've played through 3 plenty of times but another one won't hurt!

Having never played a DOOM game before, what can I expect with this one in terms of gameplay? I've played Gears of Wars & various COD games, my assumption is it is similar to Gears of War?

First person.
Run and gun.
No poncing about with cover.

Doom is pretty much the daddy of 3d fps (making wolf 3d the grandad) critically doom added the final vital element of looking up and down.
Health packs
demons
BFG's

Doom did not have looking up and down. That would have been Rise of the Triad or Duke Nukem 3D?

Doom did have multiple height floors though.

Pretty sure Rise of the triad was before wolf 3D?
