I had my first multiplayer match this morning - I was a bit like a deer caught in the headlights, with very little idea where to go or what to do (probably much like those who were there for real!)

I had many comedy moments, like throwing grenades at people instead of medpacks. Or, standing in front of an enemy, furiously waving my syringe at him in an attempt to get back to my gun before he shot me! Overall, there were many, many deaths but, I managed to get a handful of kills and every one of them felt like an achievement (I actually headshotted a sniper from quite a distance....on purpose! I was probably way more surprised than he was!)

Really enjoyed it but, need to work on sucking less hehe

You always remember your first proper long range (400m+) kill. Time with the bullet in the air and you can count to 3 before it actually lands!

Put in 6 hrs last night after work through till midnight. I certainly sucked less after the first 2 hours as I was just cannon fodder and my aim was all over the shot. Need to put more work in.

Right decided I need to get this now, what's the cheapest Black Friday deal for this? It's £36 on the Playstation Store for a digital copy but I'm sure I can do better.

Just keep chugging away, it all becomes muscle memory after a while. Apart from the gas mask, that's randomly applied whenever you really, really need to kill someone smile

I wonder what goes through the mind of the 10th person to become a sniper when you are meant to be "rushing". Is it, why, only 9 out of the team of 12 are sniping, I best make up the numbers so we can all sit up this ridge and do feck all.?!?!?

Sigh, always the same old moan. A lot of people like sniping and get huge enjoyment from it, get over it people. If you don't like it, leave and join another game, don't get upset because people aren't playing a computer game the EXACT way YOU want them to play.

I've adopted the smoke grenade method mentioned earlier to counter snipers not playing the objective. Great fun as support. I hope they're not in any way annoyed by the way I play, afterall, I get great enjoyment from it and they can always join another server if they don't like it.

The difference is they are just not playing the objective, OK you could argue that they should be playing Team Death match instead if all they want to do is snipe each other but it's just annoying more than anything while smoking your own teammates is a pretty dick move tbh but whatever floats your boat I suppose. Public servers have always had this issue from year dot, that's why I hope they release private servers for this soon. That way you can impose rules on how you want people to play as it's effectively your server.

People don't like snipers and consider them not to be playing the game properly for some reason, the aim of the game is to work as a team towards a goal, spotting enemies or taking them out from a distance surely contributes towards the goal?

Sometimes I've sat on the edge of the map looking through my scope spotting loads of enemy but it probably looks like I'm doing feck all. Snipers are a valid resource in warfare and people need to accept that.

i like it when im in a tank, and in the distance you see the glare of a sniper scope, 1 or 2 rounds later, sniper no more as a majority are too dense to move or have just accepted the fact that they are indeed fked

As a medic I like snipers they cover me when I'm reviving or playing the objective. My normal squad is 2 snipers, 2 medics and a support. Works really well, I can spot for them and leave medic crates where they are and they have a bigger picture of what's going on and save my arse on more than one occasion!

There's a big difference between having a few snipers on the team and 90%+ of the team being snipers on an objective based map though!

It's incredibly frustrating being one of only two or three people on your team trying to actually win the game, rather than staying stuck behind a rock somewhere trading a kill every few minutes.

At that point those snipers are only one step better than being AFK.

Sounds a pretty normal first game smile
But yeah, go as support or medic and drop loads of med packs/ammo on people, it's a good way to get into the swing of things and is helpful.

The Scout class is excellent when played aggressively. Spotting someone from the edge of the map lasts less than two seconds and is pretty much redundant. Running with the squad, using trip-bombs to protect objectives and cover enemy flanking, plus spotting flares to reveal enemy positions is extremely useful. Having one pilot who can consistently fly over objectives with spotting flares is entirely more useful than a dozen snipers taking ten shots trying to hit one person, occasionally spotting them.

It's not the only class that people aren't great at. Very few people give out ammunition and even less revive. In fact assault seems to be about the only class you can't be outright terrible with because the weapons encourage you to play the objective, which wins the game.

Picked this up for £32.99 from argos today, really enjoying it, but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I've never been good at first person shooters.

Just follow someone else. It is incredibly hard to differentiate between friend and foe so I shoot at everyone....

It's super confusing when you first start. Persevere, get in squads and request orders. If they don't within 60 secs, you will squad commander. Focus on an objective and press 'Q'. Will get more XP and squad might follow you...

Does anyone else have a soldier who was AWOL on Don't Get Caught on Barbed Wire Day, and the How to avoid twigs and small rocks training course?

Yup, that sounds familiar!

I did pretty well in my first game today with kills in double figures but, the second game was horrible. The map was a bombed out town (sorry, no idea what they're called yet) and, I just could not get to grips with it. The default medic gun did not work well here at all.

I think my k/d is hovering just above 0.5 which I'm actually quite pleased with (although, I am making a concerted effort to not care about stats until I've gotten to grips with the game and feel more proficient!)
