Whats the cheapest & best controller for flying on a PC? I heard you can use an XBOX controller, but a quick look suggests they are ~£40. No plans to be a hardcore pilot so would prefer to pay about half that for odd flights...
(Do xbox controllers have a USB connection, or do you need some kind of adapter for use with a PC?)

Problem in the campaign is that the flying controls are simplified (the rudder control is removed) meaning you can't yaw.

In MP the controls are as you would expect, although did take me a long time to set up.
Ah hadn't realised that, I played the campaign long before I went near the multiplayer aircraft!G

While we're on the subject of flying though, I'm still really struggling with lag/connectivity issues. I know that there are lots of potential reasons for it, but the simple fact is that BF1 is the only game which seems to manifest it in this way. The game has been almost unplayable tonight.

Battlefront never did this. BF4 never did this. As above, Ive never loved and hated a game in such equal measure before. Was planning on buying premium this weekend but after 2hrs and 6 servers of this tonight I just cant see the point. These arent even "worst example" videos, just a sample of fairly generic gameplay from ten minutes in one particular server this evening. Put BF4 back in and no issues at all.

Xbox one is micro USB. Xbox 360 you need to have the controller and the adapter to make it connect.

Wow I can really see what you mean! Not sure if I have been incredibly lucky, but I can count on one hand instances like that and I'm rank 70 or so. The odd glitch yes but really very infrequent.
Yeah it's really annoying, been no better this afternoon either. I'm still getting plenty of kills in thr fighter (finished both games top with 79 and 82) but I'm having to avoid getting really stuck in defending positions because the slightest lag just puts me into the floor. Think I'm just going to have to admit defeat with this game. Don't people want to win games? Is it all about personal glory? I'm the first to admit I'm a bad loser and I'm horribly competitive to boot. That said if the playing field is level I can handle getting beat. It's the constant lag and unfair kills that are grinding me down. Also I'm sick of going for objectives and having people just sitting there all game doing nothing. Running the other way from checkpoints to get a position to snipe instead of just capturing the base. So hacked off with it because the game could be incredible.

Sniping is really annoying on objective games.I got so fed up last week than I spent an entire match throwing smoke grenades at snipers on my own team who were about 400m back from the action.
Petty but they deserved it

I rarely get any lag issues personally, as said above just the odd one now and again.

I had a new one (for me) yesterday: playing operations and defending on Monte Grappa. Attackers have an airship and I jumped on one of the AAs to suppress the gun turrets. One of my squad mates (not anyone I knew) then decided he wanted to get on the AA instead, and took it upon himself to stand in my line of fire, so the blastback killed me ('Accident'). He then jumped on the gun himself. Tool.PeteB0 said:

Yup, Ive had that as well, Monte Crappa, gun by the church a A. The only reason I persist with this is that the friends I have on chat still play. I had one yesterday where I killed 2 players in the upstairs of a room on ballroom blitz, only to be killed by debis while the player next to me was untouched.

I wouldn't bother bud, you and Si suffer from the realism of the game - it clocks your location and gives you the ' twinset and pearls ' settings '
Mate, youre the other side of Heavens waiting room, Eastbourne, so I guess theres less traffic as fewer OAPs use or understand 'tinternet your end of the coast... Not sure if I am doing something wrong when trying to melee, but I can be as close as is possible and when I melee I just hit them once...happened a few times where they have then turned around and just melee'd me straight away, quite frustrating!
Last night I snuck up behind someone, they had no idea I was there, hit melee and poked them once with my sawtooth blade thing, tried again and they turned around and killed me instantly >:-(

The radius for the full-on attack varies from weapon to weapon but like you I've found it really random as to when it triggers, I end up with the same, a single tickle with the blunt side of the melee weapon then they turn around and circle me to the point where I have no idea where they are, then I get killed with one hit.Last night I snuck up behind someone, they had no idea I was there, hit melee and poked them once with my sawtooth blade thing, tried again and they turned around and killed me instantly >:-(
One of the awards is based on kills with the medic needle, I don't stand a chance with that unless I can get a 100m extension on it and poke from a Behemoth.

Certainly depends on the weapon used. The sawtooth and hatchet should be one hit kill or close to a one tap.Last night I snuck up behind someone, they had no idea I was there, hit melee and poked them once with my sawtooth blade thing, tried again and they turned around and killed me instantly >:-(

It's a bit of a faff if you've not played with your router before, but if you haven't done it, it can cause exactly the symptoms you describe.
How to do it depends on your router, but most have a help page online these days.
