It really does make you think what the players on your team are like in real life doesnt it when some are so inept
Yep. Especially when the idea of the game is the "protect" an objective, why the feck do my team sit 200 yards behind it watching the enemy just walk over and take it?!?!?! I mean, are these the people that a coffee cup has "FFS this is hot don't pour it on your nuts moron" to protect.......................

I'm still slightly addicted to playing this but am also finding a lot of the time now i'm throwing a zillion bullets into people and then they turn around and bam i'm dead (not even with a shotgun).

I don't know many others than play online so just join random squads, and had an absolute belter last night on Conquest on Nivelle Nights. 3 medics, me as support and one as assault. I wasn't on mic (rarely am) but could tell the plan worked well. I'd throw down some mortars, then join the assault guy followed up left mid and right by the medics, whenever we died there was always a revive pretty quickly, and i could keep the team topped up with ammo.
We ended up simply running around the map in a big circle about 3 times before securing all the bases and then held the other team back for the remainder of the round... just as it should be!

Indeed the real tragedy is that it only takes 5-6 people playing "properly" as in people dropping ammo, people reviving, and (though rarer still) people spotting. Once that happens you tend to destroy the opposition.

Free premium, double XP and another 25 battle packs (that's 75 I've had in the last week or so) - it's almost as if they want everyone to be level 150 before BFV arrives.

So managed to pick up the game and season pass for £6 from PSN. Really impressed with single player so far but haven’t yet dropped into online.

Am I right in thinking nearly all the season pass DLC is for online?

Not "nearly all", but "all".

In other BF1 news, I just got Rank 100 5 mins ago!

Heads up, Battlefield 1 is free on Xbox games with gold 1-30th Nov. The season pass too, but I don't know when that freebie expires.

The premium pass expires the day before Battlefield 1 is free.
You'd almost think they were trying to get folks to buy the maps and make money from it laugh

Season Pass expires tonight with the game becoming free tomorrow. I “purchased” the pass last night, just need to wait for the game now biggrin

It's been a while since a post in here... I assume some of you must still play?

Is anyone having difficulty finding servers? Seems to have been a problem that hasn't been sorted for months now

Still play, every thurs night with my buddy, and sometimes solo throughout the week.
We, too, are quite enjoying firestorm... well, most of the time. When its good, its very good. Its just a ballache when you die the moment you parachute in, after several minutes of matchmaking/deploy screen/hanger scene/plane flight/parachute.
Wish the whole thing could be sped up...

Help.

I bought the game for pc a few days ago for £6 (!!) and finally got around to playing multiplayer.

I used to love BF4 and was relatively good.

First thing i did was look to join a hardcore server as from memory they were the only servers that made sense and didnt have enemies taking an inordinate amount of bullets before dieing.

All i could find was "bullet damage 100%" which i enabled.

So i join my first game..

After a few deaths (some where i spawn into the enemies LoS???) i finally get the hang of it and an enemy runs accross the path in front of me so i shoot him (26%) yet he gets away. No worries, maybe i only hit him once? My gun was bouncing everywhere after all..

I went in the direction he went, and finally see a gun poking out of the window of a house. Thats him! I crouch and look for a door i can enter. The door opens! There he is in the corner, i aim and shoot and basically point blank, maybe 3 shots to the chest, maybe more? He turns, looks at me, runs at me and knives me. WTF?!

How is this in any way enjoyable? At point blank as support class, anyone should die there is no way they should be able to turn, run and stab you.

Please tell me there is a hardcore mode, with limited HUD and realistic bullet damage.

Rant over.

I accidentally launched BF1 instead of BFV a couple of weeks ago but decided to go with it - I'd forgotten how much more atmospheric it is compared to the newer game and didn't really notice any issues with not being able to kill people, what you describe is pretty standard Battlefield fare from all of the games though so maybe I just accept it now.

Support class guns tend to fire in all directions but forwards unless you're using a tripod and you can empty a full clip into someone when hip firing without even scratching them, maybe it was one of the guns they kept messing with until it was effectively a photo of a gun you could just show the enemy and hope for the best?

Keep playing, find a weapon collection that works for you, rank them up and it transforms the experience IMO.

An issue that plagued the game tbh. I'm more surprised that there's still enough activity on the servers to host the big multiplayer matches.

I thought it was a fun game and BF5 that came after over complicated the game mechanics and clearly hasn't delivered like Call of Duty in the Battle Royale mode.

These things have happened to me in all the Battlefield games I've played, I just put it down to me being a bit crap!

I think that BF1 and BF5 were disappointing. The feel of the game was completely different to previous entries. Personally, I think BF3 was the pinnacle of the series, or even BC2.

If you want something hardcore, then I can recommend Post-Scriptum which is immersive in a way no other game has been before. 9/10 times a single shot will kill you. There’s no mini-map, no enemy markers beyond what your squad lead has marked and verbal communication is vital. There’s also no progression or unlocks, just a number of classes of which only a limited number can be used i.e. one MG per squad, one sniper etc. so you don’t have a team full of bloody snipers. Tanks are first person view only and you are either the gunner OR the driver OR the commander etc. It’s bloody brilliant! The only caveat to that is that it’s PC only, however Hell Let Loose is cut from the same cloth and available on console, though I’ve never played it.
