Got a good hour or so on this last night. Really like it, sniping is a challenge but really satisfying. Flying is tricky, need to work the controls to suit me better, but being a bomber has a huge effect of enemy tanks.

Sadly it's just StarWars Battlefront with a different skin. I've already got that.
Disappointed they haven't made a better job of the loadout and other screens, could have made it look from the era rather than the same as SWB.
Changed to assault class and got the top loading gun, got a few face to face kills but game still has some glaring issues.
Once again tanks are too dominant and on the open maps it's like metro where if you get into a certain position, you stand no chance of destroying them with the grenade's ( I know there's no tanks in metro, just the way it gets impossible to progress.)

There are anti-tank rifle pick ups that one-shot tanks and even sniper rifles have a bullet option that damages them and on their own can tale a total of 30 pts of damage off a tank, plus the tank driver gets the weakest gun in most cases, so you need to be 2+ up to be really effective and team work always pays off in BF games.

Isn't that EXACTLY the point of a beta? To find faults and to get feedback from the community?
To some, apparently not

Hey – got to give it a go! After being a complete disaster on 3, I have managed quite a few kills on 4 although in fairness that’s only thanks to the laser guided missile, where flying skills are not required, you can count my air to air kills on one hand. Hoping that a laser guidance system will be an upgrade on BF1.
Not sure about this beta map, but am enjoying the game. Trying something different with each match to see what suits me. Struggled to get the charge working but have that sorted now.
Anyone on the PS4 have any idea how to draw your sword whilst on horseback, or is it that an upgrade?
I *think* the only way to get the sword is to spawn onto a horse in your base - if you pick one up on the battlefield, you don't get a sword?

You still do if you climb on a random horse.

It's buggy (obviously as a beta). Class xp wasn't working for some of our squad last night but was for others. It seems like (for some) the class xp was only working in the first game on the server so we got into a routine of leaving and starting anew after every game.

In terms of tanks, the anti tank rifle is pretty good, seems to do 30 damage per shot, as well as that the assault class was pretty good for taking them out. The anti tank grenade and remote explosives are decent but you have to get close. Also, a lot of the field guns will do a fair bit of damage too but you're vulnerable after your first shot so hit them and run. I found that sticking around C and D in Conquest drew plenty of cannon fodder from the enemy and tanks have to get pretty close to engage you.

played a couple of conquest games last night won both and managed to call in a couple of artillery strikes - snipers climbing up on to the rocks was very annoying.

remind me how to spot / mark enemies on the xbox one? on the ps3 it used to be ADS and the start button.

i did assault and sniper last night sniping was quite good fun as I found a pretty good spot on the final push and picked off quite a few attackers

tanks - haven't driven one yet but being a gunner inside felt pretty useless if the driver got into a ditch - i'll be back on tonight for another blast.

the graphics are great and there were no glitches to speak of but a few more plays and getting to know the maps a bit better will help...

PS forgot how intense the gameplay can be at times, you win after playing for thirty odd minutes and breathe....

I just pressed triangle and the sword was mine, I even managed to kill someone with it.... or maybe the horse trampled them. I feel very vulnerable on the horses though, still not a fan. 100 points for killing them is nice though.

Having a lot of fun taking out snipers with the artillery guns and have just discovered the static AA after being shot down by one.

Some oddities as I'd expect in a beta like a sniper kill making the sound of a tank shell in BF4 and the odd bit of hanging gun tracer in the air that never seems to go away but on the whole impressive.

The support gun upgrade is an improvement over the default one IMO, I have the L2 one to look at too but haven't had chance to do that yet.

I thought you had to be an insider to get this beta? I just popped on xbox store and am downloading the beta without signing up to anything!
Hoping to have a game later tonight, I am excited for this game BUT I know release will be a disappointment because EA will cock up all the servers.

I took BF4 back to the shop two days after purchase saying it was unfit to play got a full refund.

that was PS3 mind you...still I expect it to be glitchy as hell on launch day with a couple of gigs of updates required on day one...

I think with the anti-tank rifle there is a weak spot on the tanks where it's a one shot kill? Hitting the turret or from seemed to do about 30 damage, but hitting it in the side blew the entire tank with one shot on the couple times I did it (got a nice triple kill on one of them!). biggrin

yes sorry it wasn't a fair comparison - the BF4 game was issued and sold before it was ready imho.

this beta feels good so far -

Yes yes, never mind all that. Can you teabag someone with a horse? That's what I want to know.

do you need a pre order code for the ps4 beta or is it open to everyone?

Apparently if you go to the BF1 tab in the main menu's there should be a tab for it, or so the lads at work say.
