Unchartered is a great game but the multiplayer will never trouble the big boys. Not surprising really, the single player mode is the focus and multiplayer a sort of add-on bonus. With games like Battlefield it's completely the other way round. I don't think I've even played the single player mode on a Battefield game for the last 3-4 versions of it.

The only exception to this in recent memory was The Last of Us. The story mode was obviously the focus again but the multiplayer mode was surprisingly deep and fun.

Back to Battlefield I think it excels at multiplayer. It's so deep with LOTS to learn, see and do. I used to be a CoD junkie but Battlefield is so much deeper. I know see CoD as the starter to Battlefields full blown main course, it's what you move up to once you are bored with CoD. smile

For me, the vehicles really are the great thing about Battlefield. Most online games (especially shooters) can quickly become a game of simply who has the best connection but the vehicles are a great leveller, giving you an option to explore that negates the need/benefit of a super-fast internet speed. I think it gives the game a great balance.

The tag line the producers used for the game for a while was "Only in Battlefield" and it really is quite apt, it seems quite straight-forward as a game, and can be played in a very simple way, but there is so much depth that it's similar to playing 3 different games at once - you can play it as a footslogging soldier, spend the entire time dogfighting above the battlefield, try to organise your entire side as a commander, or just dick around finding new ways to kill another player, from sniping them in the head from a ship moored 500 metres off shore, to running them over in a C4 laden jeep, to parachuting in behind them, creeping up and then setting their hair on fire with a blow torch. hehe

My two favourite ways of bringing death were the C4 Jeeps on Bad company 2 & on Bf3! And secondly was killing someone with a repair tool.... quality!

Oh yes, and parachuting over a tank, dropping C4 onto it, kaboom.... So much fun....

Or load up a jeep/quad with C4, drive at tank, jump off and kaboom.......

Or place some C4 at a nice crossing point, await arrival of enemy vehicle... and kaboom.

Or my own personal fav, take a vehicle, load it with C4, and leave it somewhere tempting for the enemy, and when they take it over.... Kaboom!! Used to do this with choppers in BF3 and got quite a few good scores - if you wait long enough and 3-4 enemy are in it.........

Yes, I like C4 in BF games...

I'm a big fan of using the MAV to shoot C4, mines and claymores that have just been placed and blowing up the "dropper".

It varies depending on map size and game type but it's generally squads of 1 to 5 and teams of up to 32 in Conquest.

I always play the campaigns, they generally give you weapons or other unlocks you can't get any other way and I'm a hoarder of such things smile

I still need to do the BF4 one for a third time to get the other dogtag.

What's the cheapest people have found for the PC version normal edition? CDkeys is usually my go-to for best prices, they currently have it at £34.99 for the download code.

Has anyone found any cheaper than that?

Won't be any jihad jeeping this time round though since C4 doesn't stick to vehicles. frown

I wouldn't bother - just send friend requests to people on here and jump into their squad, hang back a bit and try to support them as best as possible. Quickest way to learn is watching others and you'll unlock stuff a lot quicker in multiplayer than single player.

Agree, playing the single player game against AI opponents will in no way prepare you for the deviousness, underhandedness, unpredictability and outright WTF are they doing moments that is the multiplayer game....and that's just talking about your own PH teammates. wink
