I was determined to complete the campaign modes before going online (don't mock me, it's just what I do) but thought I'd see what options etc I had available online, 6 hours of conquest later and I haven't looked back rofl I'll save campaign for next time PSN is down or an update is needed.

Operations is good then???
It's essentially Rush with a story line and reinforcements (airship, train) if you can't push through on the attack the first time, so like Rush, but better!

So I asked before but perhaps it was a little early for opinions..,

Is this an essential purchase for us Battlefield vets or just another shallow re-skin a la Battlefront?

Cheers

I'd say a must buy.

Really atmospheric feel, great maps (yes, some remind me of Battlefront, but they're much better) and superb play.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been a member of mass charge to a flag with players I'm not in chat with - a very rare event in the last couple of games...

Not bought one since I bought BF3 (and gave up on it after a week or so). It is mighty. Really lends itself to old style weapons (like BF1942).

Is it just me who dies a lot trying to revive someone? Mainly because I run over, then press Right and he decides to put on the gas mask. So press right again and he thinks he may as well take the mask off now. Then press right again and he decides he will generously load up a syringe. IN the meantime the dead guy has respawned...Then I get shot...

Yes also the fact that once you have revived someone you have to press change weapon again to get your rifle back by which time your dead!

No.see above. 😀. Personally I think the gas mask should be an option that you get with gas grenades. Also there seems to be an awful lot of players immune to the gas, ie not wearing a mask unless there's a hold breath button somewhere.....

I've found gas grenades to be quite effective, getting lots of "enemy hit" (or whatever it says) markers when used. I find the mortar useful too.

Gas doesn't hurt team members, just makes your screen blurry. Sometimes if its friendly gas, best idea is to leave the mask off to allow you to ADS.

Which is what the most effective thing about gas is, it isn't designed to kill. Its designed to stop people in an area of the map from ADS'ing. It also kills sentry kits and tanks as they cant wear masks!

XBO medic controls are up on the dpad for mask, and right or left (dependant on loadout) for syringe. The syringe is also basically an instant charge defib, its great fun running around behind the enemy and killing them with a "revive".

Quick question for you lot.

How do I upgrade weapons? I am level 8 overall and have primarily been using support class. Some weapons are now green and I have enough warbonds to buy them, but how do I actually go about buying/using the weapon?

You need to do it either on the spawn screen, "customize" is the option you need I think or you do it through Battlelog.

Agreed. And also when you stab someone... You go to shoot the second person only to stand there stabbing the air.....

Dangerous game reviving folks, always has been in BF games. Largely because the person who shot the guy you are reviving, is still sat there waiting for you to come into the same spot. You need to clear the area first.
(And yes, I do still die a lot reviving people)

Like the German snipers who would shoot to wound the first soldier and then wait for the medics\the rest of his mates to turn up to try to save him so he can have a pop at them too...which is why I don't play as medic. wink

The medic revive is really only useful when you are in a good squad who can cover you so you can revive your fallen teammates and keep the pressure on an objective.

Without wanting to sound condescending but you can't just run into the middle of the battlefield and expect to revive someone without getting shot.

Sometimes you have to let them go!

I was finally playing with a good squad of friends the other day where there was a good mix of classes. I did two games of Rush without dying in a row. First game we were defending and the enemy only ever got to the telegraph twice, both times we defused it.

Also people don't make enough use of the artillery the telegraph can call in - I've had quite a few kills from that.

Outside of squad play though I've taken a pasting quite a lot! KD is absolutely pants biggrin

Hmmmm don't think that's true actually. You just have to pick the ones you save and the ones you leave. It's particularly useful on operations when attacking I think.

This game really brings home the"meatgrinder£ aspect of war....well,thats my excuse for dieing so bloody often smile

Am really enjoying it,but sometimes it seems like you need 7 fingers on 1 hand, so obviously folks from Norfolk have an advantage

I normally clear the area or look to see if there are others in the team in the area who can cover (not that many do mind).

But what is really f****ng me off is the people who seem to watch the "distance to medic" counter, it goes 15m, I'll sit here and wait. 10m - Oh he is getting close I'll just wait here. 5m, almost there, should be ok now. 2m - bored waiting now I'll spawn......... So many times just as I get to a downed person they respawn.. F***ers!

As a medic you can also sit behind 2-3 of your squad who pop up, get shot, you revive and away they go. You can really dominate an area that way.
