Holy thread revival Batman! ?

I still find myself coming back to BFBC2/BF2 time and again. I buy the new 'best thing ever' and it gets a few months in and I dump it...and go back to BF2. It just works!

I admit though I have yet to try BFV or BF1 wink

So you don't play the best thing ever a dump it or not in the last 2 years.......

I think you meant to post in the BF2 thread.

Yes, posted here in partial error.

So how do you find BF1 in comparison to BF2? The feel of most of the later COD/BF versions seemed to be biased towards the type of game play that would be the preference of most of the console gaming demographic, IMHO. I have BF3 here and I may reinstall and give it a second look but BF2 - just works and flows well.

Got to be honest I can't remember what BF2 was like. I got into the franchise late into BF4. I did a few hundred hours of BF1 but never took to BF5 game dynamics so moved to COD which tbh is a brilliant time drain

Apologies for my previous post - it was a little curt.

Well since my last post I did a bit of an HDD tidy up and deleeted BF2 and then re-installed on a dedicated SSD along with BF3 - again. It has taken me a few days to get back into 3 and its a very different game dynamic. Still prefer BF2 as it just seems to flow better?

Hardware - AMD6850 @ 4.4GHz/16GB DDR3 @1800Mhz/Asus 1060 6GB (10% OC)/27" Ilyama 1080P @ 144hz.

Funny to see this topic come up as I just bought this game for a grand total of £2, but don't have PS plus so just wanted to do the campaign. The prologue mission was great, really looked like it was going for a full-on horrors of war theme. Alas in a few missions time I was crashing into Zeppelins, using their weapons to destroy several more, then jumping into the Thames and of course emerging unharmed. Also, how did I manage to get shot down, start the mission well behind enemy lines, fight all the way back, but my crashed plane with the gunner still trapped there is stuck in the middle of No Man's Land?

  • thread revival Spiderman*
.... fired up ye olde' ps4 over the past week and thought id see if any BF1 servers were still online, thinking that they were taken offline already...

I was pleasantly surprised and played 4 hours or so of Operations mode online, still a bit annoying as it ever was but overall good fun!

Not by me it wont.

It was the worse BF game, although BF 2042 is just as bad.

I`m still playing BF4!

BF1 had (has) a lot of atmosphere that's missing from some of the other games but the historical side of it doesn't appeal to me as much as the more modern versions, BF2 is the one I have fondest memories of and I'd welcome a remake of that with modern graphics but BF4 is where I'm still playing.

I bought 2042 but managed to cancel my pre-order after trying the beta, I haven't really felt any desire to give it another go but do wonder what I'll play going forward as I tend to just play one game and it's always been whichever Battlefield was the latest.

I'm still on a PS4 so I think 2042, and probably future versions, will be a bit lost on me without the benefits a PS5 can bring to the party.

BF3 was peak BF for me. BF4 was good after they ironed out the horrendous bugs that the game launched with, although the larger scale lost something over BF3 for me.

BF1 I just couldn't get on with - it looked great and played well, but it just felt so restrictive compared to the more modern setting games. Getting in a tank as secondary gunner and having about 30* of arc with your gun, that is single shot and takes forever to reload, firing from just one one side of the tank, sums it up to me. Combat was just a constant pain in the ass of wanting to do things but not being able to.

BF2042 to me is not far off of BF4 in terms of play style, but it is absolutely destroyed by the lack of/difficulties in squad play. I still jump on every now and again, but I can't keep up with the grinders and there just doesn't seem to be many of my friends playing it?

You just described Portal, which is a mode in BF2042 where you can play historic maps with historic or modern weapons. I've played at least 3 maps from BF2:BC on my PS5. The fishing village/lighthouse one, Arica Harbour and the snowy WW2 village one. They look great. smile

This is always key for me. Most of the fun is having a squad of mates and then getting massacred (well, me and my mates do!)...

I really enjoyed Battlefield 1 though, Bi Planes etc and slow tanks were quite fun...

2042 I just can't get into. Going to try it again once I have exhausted myself on the current MWII (I know I should be ashamed of myself for getting it)..

I still have mine on as well. However BF2042 killed the franchise for me. Loved BF5 and BF1 but never liked it from the launch buggy mess to what it is now.

Totally agree with this. As for Battlefield Frontline WTAF.....
