Has anyone gone from their console to exclusively PC? All of my computers have been pretty underpowered compared to my Playstations, but since I splashed out a not inconsiderable sum my new PC is now at least on par with my PS4 in terms of graphics/power and is alot quicker at loading. The only thing that stopping me from trading in my PS4 is that I much prefer the controllers over the

Has anyone switch from consoles to PC and have you wished you hadn't or felt you missed out on anything?

Does anyone know how to make the PS4 triggers sensitive on PC?
*I have the software to make it work
*Right now the PS4 triggers are an on/off switch - useless even when playing arcade games like GRID

Is there a way to make the Xbox360 controller triggers more comfortable?

What would you do for upcoming releases? For example No Man's Sky comes out next month but I can't decide whether to get it on Steam or PS4...

Google DS4 windows.

I am deeply unimpressed with my PS4. So much so I upgraded my HTPC to a more gaming oriented spec. I use a wired 360 controller, it works great.

I still have a 'proper' gaming PC for playing DOOM and other FPS games.

I have the DS4 Windows thing and my PS4 controller works amazingly well for things where I just need it to be an on/off switch, so for Assassin's Creed/Farcry/FPS' it's fine.

Are there further settings in the DS4 to play with to improve the functionality? I have a feeling if I get it working properly my PS4's days are numbered.

Yeah, but not really by design - I bought a SFF GTX750Ti cheap from work about the same time my PS3 finally died after 10 years loyal service.

I used a cheapo wired 360 controller and it's pretty good - but I only play a few hours a week at most - I'm slowly working through the division now - I'm not sure how my modest set-up (second gen i5, 8GB RAM and the 750) compare with a PS4, but it plays all the games I have fine - I just use the Nvidia GeForce optimisation tool thing and let it sort itself out - I don't really have the time or inclination to get into messing with lots of graphics settings, I don't really find that stuff interesting.

I may build something a bit better in winter when I'm on my bike less - a 6th gen i5 with a 960 or something.

If you are gaming in 1080p I wouldn't bother with a new CPU . My gaming rig still has a i5 2500K and GTX970 and runs everything I have thrown at it with ease (@1080 with lots of shiny).

My HTPC is an i5 6400 and GTX960, and is a pretty decent performer with the likes of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Whack a GTX970 in your existing Rig and you'll be laughing.

OP, some info in xinput here

Thanks guys, I guess I need to play with DS4 settings to see if I can unlock the PS4 controller triggers abit better as that's the only thing stopping me from going full PC. I currently have a wired and wireless 360 controllers which I use for the racing games.

Btw these are my specs, only additions I plan to do are:

Sound card
RAM
GTX 980ti (when the prices come down)

CPU: INTEL(R) Core™ i7-6700K Quad Core 4.00 GHz 8MB Cache LGA1151 + HD

Thanks for the info - my limiting factor at the moment is the PC, it's a SFF HP I dug out of the scrap pile in work, my 750 is a tiny little SFF thing, but it all works - I haven't seen any 9 series stuff yet that's sff and doesn't need a designated power supply, but I can get PCs cheap through work - some of the mini tower Fujitsu i5's we supply will take a full sized GPU just fine.

As you might have picked up, I'm all about the bargains - so I'll go 9 when everyone jumps to 10 wink

I've got an Xbox, PS4 and PC. I have no particular loyalty to either platform.

The Xbox front end is annoying as fk, and annoyingly under powered. Still good fun, but has its issues. The PS4 is great, however...

The PC makes both look woefully under powered. But then PC gaming can be a colossal headache, and you end up wishing for the ease of console gaming.

I'd say the PS4 is the happy medium. But when VR takes off the consoles will be left for dead.

There's no easy answer here! Ha.

Frankly the XBO is pretty underwhelming, cant comment on the PS4 as I don't have one but I doubt its any different.

My biggest gripe with the XBO is the limited range of games. If you like shooting people in the face then the XBO has that covered with wide range of near identical FPS / over the shoulder shooters! If you want something a little more intelligent then forget it. Console gaming has become so stale these days - no one dares do anything different game wise which is why everything is a clone, of a clone, of an underwhelming FPS - with added DLC / micro transactions thrown in.

I keep mulling over getting a gaming PC as there is such broad variety of games available for the PC, however I want to be able to switch on and play and not bother with updating drivers, or finding I cant play a certain game because I don't have the latest graphics card. Also I want to sit on my sofa and play on a big TV rather than hunched over a desk in an office chair. If you could get relatively fuss free PC gaming in the front room I would swap tomorrow. The steam box was supposed to bridge that gap, but that seems to have stalled!

Nice build, but a couple of ideas.

An i5 Is more than sufficient for gaming, I wouldn't bother with i7 unless you are doing loads of video editing/heavy duty Photoshop.
If you have no intention to overclock, you can save some cash on your motherboard and CPU cooler. Intel OEM cooler is fine for my HTPC case use even when gaming.
You could put the cash to one side and use to upgrade to a modular PSU (Go Seasonic)
I am unconvinced about the merits of external soundcards.

I've had a Playstation since Gran Turismo 1, migrated to PS2 and PS3, and now have a PS4.

I got into PC gaming for a bit about 10 years ago, nothing really beats a keyboard and mouse for anything that requires aiming, but have always had a console too.

I built a decent PC and then used that for the latest games, but once it wasn't up to them any more, I moved back to the console, probably when I got GT5:Prologue and the PS3 to be honest.

I got a hand me down 970GTX for Christmas having not changed my computer since the one I built 10 years ago, so have recently built up a suitable 'rig' and have been really enjoying the array of driving sims available, although I'm struggling to find the time at the moment.

I've always stuck with Playstation because of the exclusives, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid (although not exclusive any more) are far more my style, as opposed to Gears Of War and Halo etc.

Steam does make the PC really appealing though, and obviously VR, and the flexibility with controller options. I've been playing Dirt Rally on the PC recently, and it's been great, but there have been a few glitches with Steam or drivers etc. and the illusion of easy PC gaming comes crashing down, especially when you've only got a couple of hours to play, and you end up wasting an hour trying fixes, googling, and eventually re-downloading the whole game frown

In summary, if I was forced to go one platform, I'd go with a Playstation.

Currently im sort of modern platform-less

I have a 360, Wii and PC with an old GPU running linux, works for older games, and linux has quite a bit of my PC gaming desires covered.

BUT enter Doom, the game looks really good, and i really want to play it, but i cant... The sensible thing would be to buy a better GPU and dual boot the PC, but i REALLY dont want to deal with Windows again.. Im not a big fan of playing Doom with a controller either though..

Steam sales, humble bundle and GOG, put up a pretty convincing argument for PC from a 'games for bugger all' perspective.

Just having a read of this Looks like id have done a great job here. GPU rulez!

I've been exclusively PS for the past 6-7 years but I recently inherited a cracking PC for free. I've been waiting a couple of months for the new graphics cards to come out before taking a dip back into PC gaming though.

Want a 1080GTX but won't buy one until they are around the £500 mark. If they turn out to be much more than that I may just get a 1070 instead but we shall see.

conkerman I'm afraid it's too late to change it now as it's been built and delivered.

I'm happy with the I7 as do use photoshop and am thinking of utilising video capture & editing capabilities when I play games.
Fair enough on the sound cards, I'd heard it would just take abit of a load off the CPU but I guess I have over-egged mine to the point it's probably unnecessary.

I am frustrated that older games just don't want to play properly on PC, like the original Need For Speed Underground and C&C Generals for example
However I am enjoying Steam and the massive availability of all different game genres and even alot of exclusives are coming onto PC (things like MGS:V etc)

SturdyHSV, I am like you, had PS since PSX (I've still got it actually) and Gran Turismo since number one, it's a game I'd miss (despite not getting 6). I suppose it could be the slow release of any decent games on the PS4 that's annoying me more than anything.

What racers are people playing? I've got Dirt Rally on the PS4 but have struggled to get motivated to play it just as I'm using my PC alot more.

I use my console(XB1) for racing games(mainly FM6) and my PC for shooters/other stuff. If the PS4 had a decent exclusive racer I may be tempted but not worth it for DriveClub alone.
Starteing to try more racers on the PC but I cant ever see myself doing shooters on the XB. Also there are so many wierd & oddball games on Steam that limiting yourself to just 1 platform doesnt seem worth it

I get where you're coming from but the indie scene is great fun at the moment. Fire Watch, Everyone's Gone to the Rapture, Soma etc. Truly great games. fk the mainstream stuff.

The Steam Machines seem to be pathetically underpowered when compared to a half way decent PC. Still good, but you have to spent a fortune. And even then, not all PC games work - only the stuff that works on Steam Big Picture (from what I understand)

Project Cars is pretty much the catch all sim / game. Prettier than Gran Turismo, but not quite as simmy as iRacing.

Assetto Corsa is probably a better sim, but it's not as pretty as Project Cars. And I got bored of the current (Beta, admittedly) built being so unstable.

If you're looking for the best all round, PC is your game IMO.
