Chromecast resolution

Hi,

I have an older chromecast, the model before the new brightly coloured ones.

Ive been casting netflix which comes up with the hd symbol on my phone to the tv, but i read something the other day that chromecast doesent even cast in 1080p, is this correct? It said it casts in 720

Now my tv is 4k so i would rather buy another streaming stick if it boosts the resolution.

It has a 1080p auto max option, this may be dependant on network.

Click on the chromecast icon on you computer in chrome or wherever else it appears and select options.

1080p for both old and new Chromecast, according to the specs.

But, your TV should tell you the format of the incoming signal anyway...

It's the standard setting, the only reason it would go lower is because the network doesn't allow it or the source isn't high enough.

Don't forget that Netflix 4k might be "4k" resolution, but compression is off the charts.
