Is it tonight that the Blizzard Mountain expansion goes live?
yep i think it is fella, apparently you can buy a seperate pass for it on amazon according to some of the forza threads i was reading on the official forum. All i can find at the moment is the expansion pass for £29.99. might have a peruse of Amazon and see what i can find. Might have to tell the OH to find me another christmas present as i hinted that i wanted this but i might just buy it now lolhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nijh6becl6c&fe...
Here is a potatocam video of the main opening screen for the Blizzard expansion, showing lots of snowy roads, ski slope type piste terrain and a big frozen lake.

No Gameplay vids on YT yet, probably still downloading for everyone
If anyone else has done what I did and downloaded the game update and driven to the Blizzard Mountain checkpoint just to get an error message about failing to download from the marketplace when you press install, do this: come out of the game into the Xbox screen, press the menu button and go to Manage Game, download the Blizzard Mountain update from there, it's 3.66GB
Going to wait a few days for feedback on the expansion map, the rally expansion on FH1 I loved so I rushed to buy Storm Island without question but didn't like the map at all, ended up playing there about 3 times ever.
Apparently it's an interesting map but not huge and although there are some promising looking winding hairpin roads, only the town area roads aren't slippery as fk.

Put off buying this game for a while as I just didn't see the difference between this and previous horizons. £30 at game, couldn't say no. Should be on my door step when I get home.
Some of these photos look amazing.
I'm not normally into driving games, but I am thoroughly enjoying FH3. Great visuals, exciting gameplay and FUN!Some of these photos look amazing.

Agree there, I stopped buying Forza's at some stage due to them all being much of a muchness, picked up FH3 cheapish and it's got me hooked Some of these photos look amazing.
It still freezes for me occasionally, I'd say at least 40% of the time I have to alt-tab a few times to get the loading screen/barn finds to unstick. I don't really play this anymore because of the issues, for the price I paid it's just another bad pc port which is a shame.
It's immensely frustrating because it's actually a very very good game, the cars are great, the sounds good, graphics superb, the handling is just right. Only criticism I have about the game itself is that is rushes to through the showcases.

anyone tried standard tyres on the Blizzard Mountain expansion.
Quite possibly the funnest thing about Horizon 3, trying to navigate a standard e46 m3 down the mountain with standard tyres on. Just doable, its like slow motion drifting the whole way down, with the occasional "Oh st, I have overshot that bend" then you quickly become part of a rolling m3 shaped avalanche.

Blizzard Mountain is excellent. More fun than the original game!
The different types of surface really add a new layer to the driving and in one race you can find yourself dealing with wet paved roads, deep snow to bog through, snow-dusted tarmac, compacted snow that's slippier than tarmac but doesn't slow you too much, ice over half of the road in certain places meaning if you get the wrong line you'll massively overshoot the corner or if only two wheels drop onto the ice the car can slew sideways, then of course you've got the big expanses of ice on the frozen lakes/ponds with patches of snow dustings on top which is the only place you'll find any grip to make any kind of turn...
The verticality of the map makes it much more interesting too, the terrain is a real defining factor. It's not huge, but what's there is ten times better than the main Australia map. I was hoping that there would be more snow-free roads, I found Australia flat and dull without any roads I ever wanted to drive, whereas Blizzard Mountain has a lot of enjoyable twisties and cliff edge trails and so on that would make for great driving roads - I would love to see this map without the snow. Maybe the next expansion!
Races are more interesting too with the new stars system instead of just building up to festival expansions all the time. 1 star for completing the race, 2 stars for winning the race, or to get the 3rd star you have to win the race while also completing some challenge or other - score over 100k points, smash 3 snowmen, perform 20 drifts, that sort of thing - gives you something else to achieve & makes you actually give a damn about going back and re-trying old races.
I could do without the actual blizzard weather personally, but it's all part of the fun I suppose.
