Forza Horizon 3
Discussion
On the subject of tyres, in previous games the compound would be the first thing I uprated, but in Horizon 3 they make a big difference to the PI, meaning on higher difficulties I had cars with lots of grip but got left for dead on the straights. After playing around with upgrades I have found that AWD is the king on D-A Class. What I do is the conversion if needed, front tyres on standard compound but as wide as they will go, rears to match, differential, race brakes, race/off road springs, sport weight reduction then the rest on engine upgrades. A conversion works well in a lot of cars, especially the I4 rally swap.
For example, doing this I have an A800 Ferrari F40 8.6 acceleration 9.7 launch, A798 Lotus Sunbeam 8.4 acceleration 10 launch off road spec, B700 R32 Skyline 7.9 acceleration 8.9 launch, C600 Sandman HQ 8.5 acceleration 9.3 launch and D400 1966 Silvia 8.1 acceleration 8.8 launch . All are 4wd and all leave pro level drivatars for dead. Admittedly this is only the base game, I don't have Blizzard Mountain yet though

Downloaded and finished (not 100%!) blizzard mountain yesterday.
Really could have been done with being longer but what there is good.
Echo previous poster running without winter tyres, I've made my 200SX in game (with correct plate, I'm cool..) and I think the quickest I got to was about 60mph
It's something a bit different which was done quite well. turn10/playground do seem to struggle with mixing things up and often fall into a rinse/repeat cycle. Just wish it was a bit more challenging!

Oh God - the achievement for finding every road. Infuriating doesn't even begin to describe this one. I'm on 486 out of 488 and have spent 3 hours trying to find the last two. I've set the tv to black and white, put the in game brightness to zero, given myself a headache by sitting with my nose almost touching the screen, tried every suggestion, used the Xbox magnifier - nothing. I'm convinced that the counter has either glitched or 2 things show complete on the main map but not the local one. Will just have to hope one of the remaining courses goes over it or I stumble across one by blind luck.
No, that's what it's supposed to be like. This thread might help those looking for the elusive 488th road, although alas not I

So the Windows version of the January update didn't go well. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-01-04-it-lo...
1. It was the whole game 50+ GB download
2. It was the developer build debug version
3. It probably screwed your save file and needs the game to be reinstalled.
It did also show the Porsche pack and some other stuff in the code.

Mine was 3.3 gigs on the XB1, not sure if that includes the mountain expansion(I bloody hope not, I dont need space taken up by something I dont want) & another very "meh" car pack(for me anyway)...i8, Bentley Bent-gayer, another old Holden, another 4x4 race truck , yet another skyline(R31 IIRC),etc

I haven't been able to play it since launch so when they fix the above I "might" be able to actually play the sodding thing that is currently a 50gb hole in my HDD!
just trying to clear out the various challenges.
speed traps and zones all done in the new radical or Regera
i am stumped with the drifting (mainly because i'm crap at it) and the danger signs, not even close in some cases. what is the best jump car? particularly for the airport jump.?

I can't remember and I'm not on the xbox at the mo, but I think that if you hover over the jump sign on the map you can get to the leaderboard menu that shows you what distances people are getting with which cars.
I spent ages doing jumps, speed zones and drifts ect in online freeroam with mates and then realised that if I'd done them offline I could have used the rewind button whenever I fked up
Regarding drift zones, get a 200sx/M3/holden or something and download a good drift tune. It makes it a lot easier to do when the car is set up properly. Have all of the traction ect off, manual gearbox, stick it in 4th or 5th gear depending on what it spins the wheels in and just get it sideways on the handbrake and power it, then finesse your technique from there.
Most jumps and traps I completed with my dodge dart 4wd drag car.

Got this for my son at Christmas and he seems to like it.
Very impressed with the presentation and the graphics but why is their no decent progression? I haven't played a racing game for many years but GT3 for example used make you work up through the bangers and hot hatches before you got into some tasty metal and for me that was where the fun was - my son was in a Ariel Atom and a Ferrari 458 in his first couple of sessions.
Also, the rewind feature seems to ruins the gameplay as well - no need to learn to drive when you can just rewind whenever you cock up a corner.
Modern games seem to give you everything too quickly.
