Pokemon Go - Don't be shy....

Went out for breakfast with my son this morning and we had an hour's wander round Lincoln afterwards to collect in a few of the new releases, of which there seemed to be plenty about. We must have spun about 50 Pokestops between us and not a single lucky item though.

I was only about halfway through catching the first batch and now there's another 80-odd to go at, I don't see me ever finishing this.

What are the new rare ones then.

It's clear there are a couple that are around all the time the ladybird the mole looking one and the ant.
Not sure what is worth ultra balling if they pop up though

Apparently you're guaranteed to get an evolution item on a 7 day streak spin... I'll find out tomorrow!

I don't know what will end up being rare, but Swinubs are the new Pidgeys round here. They're everywhere. Also seeing a lot of Sentrets, Ledybas, spinaraks and Natus.

I got a medal for catching 30 of the Gen-2ers yesterday and I've not seen either of those, so they may well be rare.

Since dusk yesterday I've had HootHoots swarming everywhere - I wonder if they are coded to appear more frequently after dark, like the owls they are based on?

Can confirm this seems to be the case, got a Dragon Scale as the first item. Haven't got any other items from normal spins.

Yup, 7 day streak today and got a special item, metal summat. Loads of candies away from being able to get a Steelix or Scizor though.

King Rock or whatever it's called on my 7 day streak spin. I also have a Sun Stone thingy from a random spin too.

Sentret seems to be the new Rattata round here. I still need to catch every Pidgey I see, as I went catch happy over the Valentines event, and chopped them all in for for double candy. So now there are less of them about and I still have about 560 candies. I'll grind them out eventually.

Rather enjoying this latest update.
Loads of new creatures and the quick access to different balls and berries in the catch screen work well.

A nice refresh to keep the game relevant.

Haha. Same problem x 5. Got over 2000 Liffey candies, over 1000 ratta candies.

My kids and I went for a walk with the dog this morning - caught a Teddiursa, Misdreavus, and Shuckle (in addition to the plethora of Natu, Murkrow, Ledyba, Hoothoot, Sentret, Swinub, etc). It's really got them back into the game as they were getting pretty jaded.

I have found the game is a bit more buggy now - not sure if that's just me - often bounces me out. And there is a particularly annoying bug which sometimes makes my pokeballs go straight through the pokemon so I have to adjust and throw short to catch.

That's not a bug, that's the new throwing physics!
Much harder to get it in the circle for a great/excellent throw but on the plus side it is easier to play one handed.

What do you have to do to get one of these new "special items"? I reckon my son and I have spun more than 100 Pokestops between us in the last week, with a 7 day streak one each included, and not a sausage.

That's odd, I got one on my 7 day streak.

Ah, I just looked it up, it appears it's more likely but not guaranteed. A friend of mine had one at a random spin, but I think they are meant to be very rare indeed.

I've had two from random spins. Metal coat and kings rock. Just a shame I don't have enough of the relevant candy to be able to use them!

Second 7 day streak since the Feb update and...no special item this time

Had our first go since update with my 7 year old, caught a Teddiursa and some other funny looking new ones I can't remember from my own youth.

I have enough candy to evolve Onix or Scyther but need that special item, Scizor is such a majestic looking dude.
