Just looked at the two local gyms

cp103 Eevee, cp349 Seadra, cp 1344 Snorlax

Player levels 16, 15 and 21

cp1187 Electabuzz, cp1379 Vaporeon

Player levels 21 and 21

Certainly seems a lot lower.

Sort of related, I've seen on Reddit occasions where people have knocked down a high level gym, one Pokemon at a time, captured it for their team and left something like a CP10 Magikarp as the leading Pokemon laugh

I mean it'll get captured back super easily but it's pretty funny to see a gym held by something like that..

It's doing me a favour adding the metreage to my egg hatching.
It probably isn't. I read that the km walked only updates once per minute. Meaning if you walked for 30 seconds in one direction then 30 seconds back it might well register zero travelled.
I have that problem. I put my phone in my pocket with Pokemon Go running at my local parkrun (which is 4.5 laps of a relatively small park) and at the end I had added something like 0.2km to the distance travelled rather than racking up the full 5km and hatching the egg.

Seems like bans are beginning to roll out for people using modified apps, botting etc, permanent ones.
It looks like it's worked on some accounts but a lot are still not banned. I made a second account to go and look around and moved it to Santa Monia Pier, New York, Japan etc and I've just checked and it let me log in (I did this on release though so maybe it's been overlooked?)

They will probably catch up to you.

I botted pretty hardcore after about level 19 because I got bored of not being able to play the game at all where I live (rural location, zero Pokemon unless I use incense, nearest Pokestop a mile away). Ran out of pokeballs for the nth time and just decided I'd had enough. After one botting season I had enough Pokeballs to be able to actually play the next day around the office, with my colleagues. Got banned a few days ago.

I hope they do something about the disparity between rural and urban play. Not being able to play at all because you keep running out of balls (unless you pay real money for more) just sucks the life out of the game for me. A mate of mine lives in a flat in spinning distance of a Pokestop, and he doesn't want for anything resources wise.

Ah well.

Did you actually use an automated bot or emulator like Nox?

Automated. I've heard of people being banned for Nox alone today though, too. Obviously anecdotal so your mileage may vary.

So got a ban email today and obviously emailed an appeal but people have been banned for using tracking sites and somebody has said they only used that website that showed your IV levels.

Now I used pokevison and a couple of other Ines but I can remember putting my login details in to these but I did put my details into that IV site listed on here.

So you've never cheated, just used the "what pokemon do I have" site?

Harsh!

I used geopoke once. Wonder if my mega L7, best Pokemon 250cp account will get the chop? can't say I'll lose sleep if it does, being rural means the game is pretty pants anyway.

I looked at that site... but im not in the habit of putting my gmail account login details in to random websites... may as well just hand over my unsecured phone to a stranger and walk away!

Pokevision worked without needing a login, so that was ok

Never once logged into one of the tracking sites. Easily get phished on one of those!

I'm getting there on Dratini and Magikarp candy. Have 70 Dratini and 320 Magikarp. Haven't evolved a Dragonair yet, waiting until I have the full 125 candies incase I encounter or hatch a big Dratini.

You'll be safe if you only used Pokevision, it's only the sites that required your log in credentials that are getting people banned.

On another note, finally got my Nidoqueen evolved and hatched a 2000 CP Lapras from my 10K egg.

As a rule of thumb you should be enabling Two Factor Authentication anywhere you can anyway, and particularly on something like a Google account. You could log into these things using an app password, or authentication token, neither of which would give the app developer the keys to the kingdom.

Anyone blindly entering their actual Google email and password into any of these things is a bit silly, really.

And to echo the above - if all you've used is one of those sites that don't require you to log in with your account details you're perfectly safe. There is talk of people being banned for simply using IV calculator sites though, so Niantic is handling this with a scorched earth policy it would seem.

I seem to have 9 2km eggs - not had a 10k egg in weeks!

I've had one in the last few weeks which is so annoying. Never had Lapras or Snorlax out of one, my latest being an Omanyte with hardly any candy.

I have 1 2km, 2 10km and rest 5km.

My issue is that i can't get to 2km walk before it either crashes or kills the battery. New update won't let you cycle with it in your pocket, either =(

Tbh haven't played it for nearly 5 days, ran out of data on Monday, and at home face the nothing doing anywhere rural problem. Probably going to uninstall tbh.

Some people get all the luck! I've just had my fifth 10km egg from a stop, and I'm level 22! I've got my fourth one on the go too, I'm hoping for something decent out of it to tip me over the 100 mark in the pokedex.
