Nearby feature is out today. Only tells you about pokemon within 5-10min walking distance, but that's still somewhat helpful as it tells you which way to go. And looks nice too.

One good thing Niantic seem to have done is reorder the items screen so that pokeballs are at the top

4 times out of 5 the app seems to start with nothing on the radar and no pokestops, gyms etc. showing.
I've had that problem for a week or so now. Perhaps not quite as much as 4/5 but maybe 1/2 or 2/3. I thought it was just lagging at first - and that waiting would allow it to load - but I've realised the best bet is to quite out and restart the app. I'm running iOS - not sure if it is iOS specific or affects Android too.

Got the same. (Also iOS.) I guess I'm re-opening twice on average to get it fully working - reasonably recent 'phone too, and nothing else regularly struggles on it (6S+ 64Gb with plenty of space).

Glad it isn't just me it is happening to. Sometimes I leave it running with the screen on when it is on charge, and a couple of times I have come back to see it with an anti-bot screen you have to react to. At 2am without my contact lenses in it isn't easy identifying street signs on a tiny screen! I had thought they might think I was a bot and be nerfing my account.

Same happens on Android, both my daughter and I have seen it happen. More like 1 in 4 times though.

Finally the official date from Niantic for the new release, introducing some of the new pokemon -- Monday, 12th of Dec. Time to stock up on the right candy for Gen 2 evolutions. I bet Eevee will get new evolutions, there's been loads of them recently!

5km eggs being really rather kind to me.

Last 4 have hatched with all the candies I needed to evolve an Alakazam, a Nidoking, an Arboc and a Victreebell.

I'd resigned myself to buddying up and walking about 100km + in order to get these.

Still 86km to go to get a Gyarados though.

Nice little app update has brought the ability to transfer more than one Pokemon at a time - finally!

Great one - I usually spend my train journeys either working on emails or "doing admin" on Pokemon.

That's it? That's the 'BIG' announcement?!
Two new finds from eggs only and a largely pointless Pikachu in a hat..

Hardly earth shattering.

All 7 baby pokemon are available from eggs, and if you evolve a santa Pikachu the raichu keeps the hat. But yeah, a little underwhelming.

My eldest was ecstatic yesterday when we caught a Pikachu with a santa hat, although I was a little bit meh. I caught two more for him on the way to work this morning so they seem fairly common, which is good for getting more candy at least.

They really ought to come with a sackful of candy...
