Pokemon Go - Don't be shy....
Discussion
Yes, it does seem that the increased incidence of 'original' Pokemon are extremely hard to catch considering their CP. Almost all will have red/orange rings and many will bugger off after an initial failed catch. Their 'escape' variable must be significantly increased over normal Pokemon and yes, it's hurt my Pokeball stock hard too.
I have managed to catch or evolve Raichu, Charmeleon, Ivysaur and Venusaur during the promotion, was hoping to get a Charizard and Blastoise but I'm a long way off in terms of candy for either at this point.
With all the 1-use incubators but very little in the way of walking about over Christmas I had nine eggs incubating as of this morning. All hatched in my lunchtime walk, dropping a Cleffa and Togepi among the usual Zubats from 5k eggs etc. , leaving me in the odd position of having no eggs when I arrived back at work.
Edit: Just had a 144CP Charmander escape even though I used a razzberry, an ultra ball and threw a 'great' catch
On the catch bonuses, anyone else think that those XP bonuses should be given per-catch? Would go some way to offsetting the pain of chucking away 10+ balls on a non-descript Pokemon, finally bagging it even though you mis-throw, despite hitting a string of nice/great/excellent on the way there?

Glad it's not just me who is finding the starter pokemon hard to catch. So many times I have had them get the last wiggle of the pokeball only to break out...
I don't have an issue with 400+ CP being a little difficult to catch but when a 1100 Jynx is easier to catch than a 100ish Bulbasaur/Charmander/Squirtle/Pikachu something's not right

The starter Pokémon have always been right little bds to catch, so wasn't particularly surprised when they were just as hard to catch. Caught a few pokemon in Istanbul on Saturday (luckily flew out of there in the evening) and am now in Iran and even though I do not have a data connection on my phone, Pokémon Go is banned so no extra stuff for me as I do not get back till Sunday. Still have a few eggs in incubators though and only need Elekid to finish my European Pokedex
I had not had a 10K for ages then read something on reddit to the effect that there might be more chance of getting one if your stock of eggs is empty.
Let all my eggs hatch without spinning any stops so I didn't collect any more. Once the last one hatched, I started spinning again and five out of the first nine I got were 10K!!
No idea whether it was just coincidence or not - plan to try it again soon.
Got an aerodactyl too which was pleasing, still no Lapras or Snorlax though despite being Level 29 and been playing for a while. Never seen either in the wild too.

Interesting, there may be some truth to that I think.Let all my eggs hatch without spinning any stops so I didn't collect any more. Once the last one hatched, I started spinning again and five out of the first nine I got were 10K!!

During the free incubator period I hatched quite a few eggs at the same time and picked up four 10km eggs. Inventory was about 2-3 eggs, not completely empty. In the past when I spent some money and bought incubators, I was also hatching multiple eggs at the same time and picked up more 10km eggs than usual. I attributed it to the fact that I spent money so the game was giving me better eggs but maybe this is the real explanation.
Anyway of those four 10km eggs I got a Magby and Smoochum, also hatched Igglybuff and Pichu during the festive period so have four pokemon left.

Was going to post before I went out for lunch that I've only ever seen one Lapras (caught) and one Snorlax (ran away) and what do I see on my travels? Another Lapras! Also caught a fairly chunky Charizard languishing in a churchyard. Decent lunchtime stroll.I've been investigating hitting Pokestops.
I don't have conclusive proof yet, but it seems that the following might have some merit:
Also, you get a bigger haul on the 9th or 10th consecutive different Pokestop in a short space of time.
I don't have conclusive proof yet, but it seems that the following might have some merit:
- As you stomp around, always spin the same way.
- When you get a haul you like, (eg all balls) move to step 3.
- Always spin the thingy the opposite way, and you will likely get the sort of haul you like.

I'm surprised to find out that I'm missing all those starter Pokemon. They might have been irritating little buggers to catch, but it added a bit of interest to the game. Yesterday lunchtime was quite dull: aside from the millions of Pidgies, Ratatas and Spearows, the highlight was a couple of Eevies.

Quite. I'm now back to grinding pidgeys/eevees and crossing my fingers with eggs, in an area where pokestops are few and far between. More events, or new pokemon, needed soon or I'll clock out.anonymous said:

Buddy up - you're only 30km away!During the starter Pokemon "event", we got enough to evolve Charizard, Venusaur and Blastoise.
Only ones missing now are 10km egg ones, with no eggs and no incubators, and super rare (for here ) ones like Grimer and Omanyte we'd have to walk hundreds of km to get from buddy candy.
It's going to wind down for me until the new wave of gen 2 start to appear.
