I'm not finding any of the new Pokemon in the wild or getting them from eggs, despite the Pokedex now going all the way up to 239! That's not far off an additional 90 or so animals and I can't even find 1!
There's only 8 new pokemon available for now, and they all come from eggs. Unfortunately your best chance of hatching them has now passed (there was a higher hatch rate of the new baby pokemon around the holiday period).I've got 4 so far but without spending money on incubators there's not much hope of getting the others

I've got nothing between 148 and 172 (Pichu, 5km egg). Then I've also got Togepi at 175m then nothing until 238 (Smoochum), 239 (Elekid) and 240 (Magby). Everything after 148 has come from eggs.On a completely unrelated matter, does anyone know who decides where to put Pokestops and Gyms and how they decide?
I'm used to rural environments having next to nothing in them, with an interesting exception being the IBM Hursley labs in the middle of rural Hampshire 3 miles outside Winchester which is a little oasis of 9 Pokestops and 2 gyms....

Only that they were derived from Ingress (Niantic's original AR game) and must've been generated from a Google/Wikipedia-like source of 'culturally notable places' and player data, hence odd bits of graffiti and some pubs being listed, as well as the inclusion of places like Dachau originally.Niantic was part of Google when that game was developed so it probably used Google's correlation of popularity and mapping data originally.
Being an Ingress player myself I know of Hursley from the early days of the game, despite never having been there. The portals were submitted by a couple of players on the opposite team to me who worked at IBM and were well known around the south as being one of the best 'farms' ie. clusters of high level portals that players would use to get high level items to use in the game. Since he has moved away from the area it doesn't get farmed any more. Did the 'Happy Sun' make it across?
Now that I've broken my silence in here I should probably introduce myself as DuracellBunny, having a break from 4 years of Ingress and playing for the red team on Pokemon Go. Just hit L34 and now chasing a Chansey and a Magby to finish my Pokedex

Yes, pretty sure the Happy Sun made it. I didn't go for a walk round all of them, as I had to get on the road straight after our meeting, but I'll check next time I'm there. Now that I've broken my silence in here I should probably introduce myself as DuracellBunny, having a break from 4 years of Ingress and playing for the red team on Pokemon Go. As of yesterday lunchtime, btw, both gyms were held by the red team.

Noticed an XP bonus when catching some unremarkable Pokemon the other day. It was listed as something like
Any idea what this bonus is for and how it is given?
It's a bonus for catching 100 of that species, you get it every 100 of them that you catch.Pokemon Caught 100XP
Great Throw 50XP
Bonus 100XP

No idea about gen 2 release date...
I wonder if it'll be held off until the warmer weather, maybe with an Easter (egg based) event to fill the gap between now and then.
Mean time, I'm just saving coins, and saving up candy for those that will have a further evolution in Gen 2, specifically eevee, zubat, poliwag, slowpoke, horsea, Oddish.
As well as making the most of all the pidgeys with all the pokeballs I keep getting.

I'm hoping for a Valentines Day event, for fairy things and candy. I might be wrong though.I wonder if it'll be held off until the warmer weather, maybe with an Easter (egg based) event to fill the gap between now and then.

Didn't know about poliwag, slowpoke, horsea and oddish, I'll have to keep an eye out for those. Are there any other that I need to be aware of?
