I caught an IV 95% Teddiursa at lunchtime, but he's only CP326, so he'll need a lot of candy and stardust.

He should make a relatively good fighter though...

Finally hatched a Chansey yesterday, it's a good 'un however assuming no other catches/hatches it'll take me walking 90km to evolve a Blissey.

They are buggers to get past in gyms.

Have managed to get this, 93% IV.

Quite handy in a gym!

I don't think they ever banned people for using IV checkers? i.e. the ones which make you log into your account rather than typing values in. I do and I've not been banned, and it seems quite a lot of other people do too.

My son (aged 7) loves Pokemon-Go, so I end up taking him out a few times a week to the local poke-stops/gyms. Nearby there are 3 gyms, and 2 of the them are in the middle of playing fields and cannot be driven to.

Last week we saw all 3 gyms taken down in a matter of minutes by the same player. We were just outside of battle range from one of these gyms (which is located in the middle of a field) when the player took it down, even though there was no-one in sight...

My son battled the gym, put a Pokemon before he had revived his remaining Pokemon the player had re-taken the gym. I assume he must be playing from the comfort of his home using GPS spoofing. Surely the whole point in the game is the walking around aspect - if you are home there are loads of much better games to play.

Do Niantic allow GPS spoofing? It certainly explains the number of very high level players that seem to have all of the best Pokemon.

I was assuming that there were a few people who'd managed to escape the banhammer for using GPS spoofing early on - can't see many getting to level 36+ without this - but thought they'd sorted it months ago by restricting the app to non-rooted/jailbroken devices?

If you read reddit, you'll realise that there are some REALLY hardcore players, people who've got to level 39/40 through serious grinding and using real money. I'm on level 33 with 4.5m exp and to get to level 40 is 20m exp. I probably play for an hour a day on average and there's been periods where I haven't played at all so I can believe that people have got to level 40 legitimately. I have 5 Dragonites (3 maxed) so if someone spends 4x as much time playing as I do then they can have loads to stick in gyms.

Also pogo+ is meant to help a lot, mine is on the way biggrin

Does a Pogo+ or being a super high level extent the range of gyms?

I have no problem withe hardcore players that put the hours walking/playing. I just find surprising that someone can battle and take down a gym without being in sight of it..

Wish I knew how to get these "Special Items" for evolving. I thought you got them at the end of a seven day streak, or something, from Pokéstops.

I've got one Sun Stone, though nothing to use it with at the mo.

Am I missing something?

As far as we know, it's entirely random. I had a King Thing, and evolved a Slow King with it, and have 3 sun stones now.

One of them came from a 7 day streak, one came the first spin of the 1 day streak after finishing a 7 day streak, and the other two have been (seemingly) entirely at random.

I could really use a Metal Jacket as I have an Onix ready to go.

I have one Metal Coat from my first 7-day streak after the update, but the two since have passed without another special item. I've also spun something like 2-300 pokestops without getting one.

Rare isn't the word. I think I recall reading that the drop rate is about 0.4% meaning I'm probably due one. Suspect they'll tweak the drop rate at some point as getting many of the items is out of reach for all but the very dedicated/lucky.

As it looks like they have done with pinap berries. I ran out at the weekend after chasing a few rarer Pokemon and haven't had a single one since, must be at least 30 spins.

I need a few more of them, I seem to have 50 of the rather useless nanab ones... frown

Blame my wife for the lack of special Items, I have had 2 whereas she has had 8 or 9 and only needs a "Upgrade" to complete the set! Grrrrrrr.

Yeah, if they'd made the 'jumping about a bit' more than a token and easily-defeated change then they might be useful, as it is they are the first to be dumped if I need space.

I count myself quite lucky, I'm missing only one sun stone for the evolution items. I have 3 spare metal coats and 2 spare upgrades... I feel like discarding them but that would be like throwing away food in front of a homeless person biggrin
