I've still not had a special item despite spinning literally a billion (or what seems like it), Pokestops over the last couple of weeks. I'm having to keep throwing stuff out of my perpeptually full bag to make room for new spins.

I did think the pinaps were appearing a bit less than initially too. I'd been using those on virtually anything to build up evolving fodder for the XP, but I've had to reign that in now.

I've had 2 metal coats, an up grade and 3 sun stones. So far I've gotten a Scizor and Steelix.

Bizarre. I took my son and daughter into Lincoln yesterday and we had a good couple of hours of hunting. Easily did 100 Pokestops between us, and nothing, special item-wise.

I caught a wild Crobat this morning and got 10 candies and 500 Stardust for my trouble.

Kinda worth catching the tertiary evolution ones for that alone, if you can.

Should have Pinap'd it and got 20 candies wink
Catching Pidgeots, Beedrills with Pinap berries effectively gives you almost 1000 extra XP!

What? So any tertiary evolution gives extra XP/candy? Did not know that.

My focus has shifted to getting Weedles, Pidgeys and Caterpies as you get an evolution on average every 3.7 catches. With an average of about 180 XP for every catch with the new first catch bonus, adding the evolution XP means you effectively get about 310-320 XP for every 12 candy evolution Pokemon.

If pinap berries weren't so rare then it'd be worth using to effectively double the XP boost.

I've no lucky eggs left, have no intention of paying for any, am still a bit away from level 30 when I believe more are given, and when you have hundreds of thousands of XP to get to the next level the impact of one is lessened anyway, so this is a reasonable substitute in terms of grinding XP. Also means I don't have to juggle storage to keep 20-30 Pidgeys in there any more.

Swinnubs can do one, however. Bit crap how there are no gen 2 Pokemon that only need 12 candy for an evolution.

They're handy as they give you a catch on two types, which helps you get to the gold badge and catch bonus for ice and ground type.

Once I have that, I'll not bother any more. Same with Murcrows, only good for building up to a full dark catch bonus.

I love Swinubs, Piloswines with double ice moves are Dragonite killers smile

Still no 'special items' for me but I do seem to catching and/or hatching new beasts pretty regularly.

It seems like the IV calculators might be up again. What's the best one people have found for Android?

When have they ever been down?
Calcy IV is great with no risk of ban, IV Go is even better but with slight risk of ban (I've been using it and never had any issues).

I thought they went down a couple of weeks ago with an API update at Niantic...

Thanks for the suggestions!

IV Go had sporadic login issues but they were fixed pretty quickly.
Offline ones shouldn't ever be affected...

Has anyone else experienced the app crashing or being very slow since the update of Next Gen?

Hopefully there will be an update soon

It's never been a ball of fire, but yes, probably a few more crashes and periods of watching that white wheel spinning round since the last update.

It seems to have gradually got slower and less reliable with each release. I just put it down to using an old iPhone 5. These days though, around 20% of the time it seems to get as far as loading the map background and then hang.

New screen drop that says there will be guaranteed evolution item on your 7 day streak spin. Great news.

It also seems to have gone water Pokemon mental round me, which is nice, as I need Omanytes and Magicarp.
