Its great how whichever city your in depends on the type/class of Pokémon available, I work in Portsmouth and its all Electric class,
So what are the rare/hard to get characters then? if I remember rightly back from my youth it was MewTwo that was hard to get?
I get a lot of Pideys, Drowzee' and Zubats near me, great for grinding the levels. So what are the rare/hard to get characters then? if I remember rightly back from my youth it was MewTwo that was hard to get?
Mewtwo was the ultimate rare one, we also have the legendary birds, Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno. They have spaces in the pokedex, so must be available.
I hatched a Kabuto from a 10km egg last nigh, they can't be too common.
One thing I am struggling to understand; with rare pokemon, how are you supposed to be able to get enough candies to evolve or power them up? My Kabuto, for instance, needs 50 candies to evolve. That means I need to find at least another 15 to accumulate enough candies....
For me I'm finding a lot of Pidgey's, Weedle and Spearow's also,
I've got 4 egg's, the one I'm doing the minute is a 5km one, and I can tell you, it doesn't work by getting in your car!, I've done over 20 miles with the app open in the cup holder and out of the 5km I've only done 0.8km.

Haha yeah, that won't work. Apparently the app will only register speeds up to 18-20mph and ignores anything above that.I've got 4 egg's, the one I'm doing the minute is a 5km one, and I can tell you, it doesn't work by getting in your car!, I've done over 20 miles with the app open in the cup holder and out of the 5km I've only done 0.8km.
There are some great pictures on Reddit of guys putting thier phone in a sandwich bag, tying it to their dog's collar and then letting it run around a field
I hatch one 10km last night and I've got another which is 75% the way through. My OH only has 2 and 5km at the minute, so it looks like they are uncommon.
Have you read about the best way to boost levels yet?

IS the whole game about walking around or can you do things from home?
Want to join in but can't be bothered to walk around.
Depending on your location, you can get pokemon appearing at home. Obviously you can just boot the game up whilst you go about your day-to-day business; going to the supermarket, work, walking the dog etc.Want to join in but can't be bothered to walk around.
To get the best from it though, it does help to go out for walks or visit certain local points of interest.
Give it a go; generally I'm not a big one for walking but I've done loads this weekend, driven by the game. If you've got a partner or mates into it as well, it becomes really good fun.
I've visited parts of town I didn't even know existed.
Protip - Get some mates together, watch some footy/a film, get drunk, go out in the dead of night and walk for bloody hours capturing pokemon.
Bonus - severity of hangovers tends to decrease with exercise before bed!

How long are your phone's batteries lasting? If you have to keep the screen on all the time it must drain quickly?
I'm running an S7 edge and probably dropping 30-40% over 2 to 3 hours; that is using battery saver mode, holding the phone upside down whilst walking and turning AR mode off.My OH has an Xperia Z5 and it is eating her battery. Running the same setup as me, she will use around 60% over 2 hours.
Even if I plug my phone into a charge pack whilst out and about, it will still discharge faster than it can charge. Using it whilst fast charging, sees a very steady increase, maybe 1% every 5-10 minutes.
In summary, it varies from phone to phone but it will use a lot of battery...
If you're out for a long day, invest in a large charger pack and try to keep the phone inverted whilst walking. Turn AR mode off, it saves battery and makes it easier to catch pokemon anyway.
