The Pokevision seems to work well, not that I've gone out and tried it, but it's showing up in the usual places. There seems to be a spawn spot down the canal near mine, every time, same spot, 3-5 Pokemon there whenever I've been past.

Help me out folks, gyms, I thought that if your "team" held it and there were less than 6 Pokemon in there then you could add your strongest and help hold it?
I took a wander to my nearest gym, 3 in there, held by red team but I couldn't join it?
Any reason why I wouldn't be able to join?

The gym probably isn't a high enough level. If you battle against it, you can raise it's level then eventually add your pokemon.I took a wander to my nearest gym, 3 in there, held by red team but I couldn't join it?

Managed to nab two today!It slightly ruins the fun as you can put your lo action and it will show you nearby pokemon along with a timer for how long they'll be there . Atm I only ever see common ones as they stay in an area for 15min.
I tried it briefly at lunch. Found a Squirtle in a nearby estate, I need a few of them so headed down the road and parked up.
It did show up on my 'nearby' list as promised, but nothing actually spawned and I didn't have time to wait around or use an Incense.
It's a good indicator though, at least you know where to head to if you want to catch something new.
