Not sure if joking or not, but there actually is an ending to Tetris! I only learned that last week.

Not a level but a mission on GTA Vice City. The one where you take a motorbike to the shopping mall (which takes about 3 minutes to get to) and then you have about 20 seconds to shoot out the windows of certain shops on 2 different floors. Ran out of time, every time. I got so bored of trying that I gave up in the end. Loved the game though.

Doom 3 hell boss is definitely beatable. The beauty of youtube is you can watch someone else beat the level and learn if you have entirely missed something and your technique is wrong, or if you are on the right path and can keep going till you finally make it! :-)

All of the STALKER franchise, combat is hard as nails.
Bought the complete pack off Steam last week for £10; worth every penny. Such fantastic games.

My choice would be that bloody labyrinth level on Sonic 1; a bloody nightmare.

I can still hear that sound when your oxygen starts running out....

God I hated that mission rofl
Oh god yes! This was ridiculous.

Thats before you could even play the fking game! hehe

Funnily enough though once past it, I did actually complete the game. I remember the final mission being equally ridiculous.

+1

I was fine with the levels, but the Labryinth Zone boss where you had to keep jumping up and up before running out of air......

I went back to it as an adult thinking i'd find it easy. Ermmm, no. I think I've only ever managed it once.

It might be abit late, but using a pistol really helps, grenades also work well... If you don't want too many cops after you then using the katana works well. All 3 allow you to sprint still so running around the place is quick.
I've just re-done this missing on the PS4 download version, it's got to be my 20th playthrough of that game, best game ever!

I think it took me about 20 goes to get it, which is ridiculous. I never finished the game properly but I did find the cheat mode to have a go at the last level - also utterly ridiculous, there were so many cars flying around it looked like a low-poly version of The Blues Brothers. biggrin

Mission #4 in X-Wing the PC game:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Skirmish_near_Brigi...

You play as a lone X-Wing defending the medical frigate from Tie-Bombers. You have to be lightening quick it getting them before they can lauch torpedoes at the frigate. The bombers would spawn at random and in opporsite directions, leaving you very little chance of stopping them all. It took my tens of play throughs before I managed to complete it.

Hearts of Iron 3 as Germany, I can manage Operation Sealion but always get bogged down when I try Barbarossa. A mate who's had a playthrough on HOI4 reckons it's easier, not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Prince of Persia, the original side scroller one from the 1989. Although you had infinite lives you only had a limited amount of time to complete the game and dying meant you had to start from the beginning of that level so loosing you precious seconds. The jumping puzzles were exteremly hard in later levels requiring the dexterity of a fox. What's worse would you would get about 3/4 of the way through the game only to realise you'd died to often and wouldn't have time to complete the game.

Gave up in the end, I do know a friend who completed it after many many tries and I think I remember him saying if you died more than 10 times (very easily done) it wasn't worth continuing.

Recent games, I seem to start with lots of enthusiasm but then get bored about 3/4 of the way through as it all becomes a bit too samey. A lot of games definitely flag in the middle these days and there seems to be a lot of "filler" to try to make the game seem longer. It's the reason why I tend to prefer online games these days as playing against humans is a lot more unpredictable.
