Keep seeing reference to Pokemon on Facebook all of a sudden. Vaguely remember some sort of card game years ago - so why the sudden interest in it all over the place?

There's a new phone based game called Pokemon Go that a very large number of people are obsessing about.

Does that mean they're not playing "The Game" anymore?
A colleague used to swear at me if I asked him that. whistle

I refrained from saying anything on that thread to 'be like Bill' as you put it.

This thread however allows me to say what i think about it though and i think it's cringeworthy.

The world is a wonderful place and to be able to get out in the sunshine and 'catch' pokemon for fun is a great thing IMO.

I had someone who is an avid TV watcher say to me 'it's crap because it's all pretend'

Whereas the majority of the TV they watch (soaps etc) are obviosuly completely 'real' rofl

It is indeed, quite why someone would want to walk about it with a phone constantly stuck to their face is beyond me though.

Download it, play it. The idea is that you visit places you might not normally go.

You hardly walk around with a phone 'stuck to your face' rofl

You walk around and your phone will give you a little buzz, have a look, catch if you want, carry on walking.

It's great and if you've got kids and want them to be more active it's superb.

Ari, you can think of Pokemon Go like you think of birds that like salad. You might not be interested at all personally, but there's nowt wrong with other people liking them. It's certainly better than kids sitting inside playing Boom Beach.

Me, my girlfriend and another couple walked the length of the Tardebigge Locks (the longest stretch of locks in the UK) yesterday. We were going to meet friends at the nearby pub, but opted to walk it, instead of driving.

We ended up chatting to loads of people along on the way and stopping to watch and help the narrow boats operating the locks.

All very sociable stuff.

We decided to walk it because we could play Pokemon along the way; breaking the monotony of some stretches of the route and having a laugh along the way. biggrin
