Hey guys,

For those who haven't seen it already, a 205 GTI 1.9 with less than 8,000 miles sold for £30,938 at Silverstone during the Classic.

Couldn't believe quite how mint this thing was, sorry if it's a re-post, the interior is madness!

That has got to be one of the best examples in the UK.I always new 205GTi`s would become sort after, mind you they have to be perfect.
If that 205 sold for £30K what would this GTi sell for ?? http://clubpeugeotuk.proboards.com/thread/5028/199...

Crazy, I'd imagine that a car with that mileage must need a complete overhaul unless very carefully maintained

That means there is still a lot of money to be spent at the moment in anything...

That was the widowmakers in French's alps.

In my opinion it is worth every penny of that, whether you are going to drive it or not. If bought as a piece of art to look at I am sure that you won't lose any money on it and if bought to drive, firstly, well done! Secondly, where else are you going to find one that's so near to being a new car!? I think it's almost a steal! Even if you put 5k on it each year over the next 5 years I doubt you'll lose much, if anything at all.

What a lovely thing.

Yes but you had to pay £72,000 for a 117 year old one like this a couple of years ago:

I'm with you, it's exceptional and I love the fact it has been used a little rather than mothballed from day one. Someone enjoyed it, loved it, and it really shows.

My thread running here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

That was the owner's daughter who posted on that forum.

I do love a 205 GTi. Still the most fun driving I've had!

You don't pay that premium if you're going to be using it.

Compared to some Fords that is a relative bargain but in a generally over-inflated market it's a brave punt. I would love to turn the clock back and preserve my first 1.6 GTI. It was one of the early cars with the linear heater controls and chunky square stalks (presume from a prior range) although it had factory electric windows and central locking (utter luxury for me at the time) and was in classic solid black. B72RDF, where did you end up ? One of those first run A/B plate 1.6's in decent order would be worth every penny of £20k IMHO.

Not for me that, if you want an icon of sorts for thirty bags you have various options: A prancing horse (albeit an acquired taste) but a 400i v12 Ferrari or a Mondial would come in at that sort of cost (& you'd not be afraid to drive it in the kind of condition it's likely be in), a BMW e9 <3, maybe a 2002 turbo in average order, or even a rough 2+2 v12 series 3. Now when compared - the Peugot doesn't really cut it does it!

Just my two cents.

This car is exactly the same spec as the one I drove to Harrogate to collect as a company car in about Oct 1989 ...

G222 JUB

It was an ex-demo with 1000 miles on the clock. God, I was in love with that car from the moment I saw it ...

The trip back down the A1 was motoring heaven ...

And this car is virtually it! Memories ...

Fair play to whoever bought this one ...

only two problems with this car: the colour - silver is one of the least favourable colours; exhaust - needs the original for that authentic 'splattery' sound.

£30k is not a lot for such an iconic car.

£30k for a 205! roflrofl

They were swapping hands for a tenth of that 5 years ago. People saying it's worth every penny need their head examining IMO. Bubble Bobble, when it pops people are going to take a huge bath.
