Rain would be fun however I'd imagine fairly intensive on the computers running the game?
Other games manage it well enough. RF2 has a realistic implementation of rain, drying line, aquaplaning etc. NetKar Pro (Kunos' previous game) had rain but can't remember how complex this system was. I even remember Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4 back in early 2000ish had rain simulation with drying lines.

Would be a good addition if done properly but then racing online is difficult enough without adding rain to the situation!

Damn thought I was pretty good at AC... 2:20.744 with standard setup can't see where I'm losing 2.5 secs!

Keep going. I was struggling to get into the 2:19's consistently but then I watched Joe's video and although he wasn't taking any different lines to me I noticed how much more he was turning in initially and how smooth his steering was. With the video in mind I did 2 laps as night (with 30l of fuel and no changes) and was down to 2:19:1XX. Still a second off Joe's time but with a .4s improvement in the first sector alone.

I'll be heading to the server tonight sometime around 7pm if anyone else fancies a few laps. BTW Ash, your time seems to have disappeared from RSR...

The server now records people's lap times from all sessions, and shows the stats on a web page. The live map is handy!
http://ph-hotlaps.ddns.net

There's also a client plugin called ptracker you can use in-car, but it's not needed to collect the data. I haven't tried this yet.

I'll hop on in a bit see if I can't improve my lap times any more

2 sec improvement to your PB, got to be happy with that!
...and view a live delta to your fastest lap or any lap on the server,
Oooo! I've always though it is odd you can't do this in Assetto Corsa. It's always a pain when you leave the game and come back to a blank delta rather than your fastest time.

Apparently ptracker does upload some additional information - tyres and driver aids. It also lets you share setups and view a live delta to your fastest lap or any lap on the server, a handy replacement for the ghost car while driving online.

If you click on your lap time on the server web page it displays some interesting graphs too, showing where you are early on the brakes or late on the throttle compared to the fastest lap, and even how your lines compare in the corners.
Can we have a link to the ptracker html output? biggrin
I know I can do better though.

Hillclimb special now running on the server, this weekend only!!

Car: KTM Xbow R
Track: Trento-Bondone hillclimb

Times must be set on the server, seems to be limited to 4 concurrent cars with this track. Good luck!

NB: this is just a special event, if it proves popular we could run regular "club" events like this.

P.S. done a couple of runs up the hill and it's pretty brutal, if you don't manage a clean run don't worry we can just add a 3 sec penalty for each collision.

ah you bugger, i might be able to come on at some point tomorrow but it'd be fairly late!

The 'hill' climb (because I think hill doesn't really cover it biggrin ) is great fun, though we could probably have a ranking for most crashes too? (just did 19 c: )

/edit: did a 12:43 with 1 'crash' ( tapped a banking I think ), but that's very fun :]

I'm trying my best to fall in love with AC as it does drive nicely, but it's annoying how many glitches I get, it crashes quite often, but not all the time. The menus jump all over the place on my triple screens I never know where they're going to end up. It's really getting on my tits tbh.

Happens to a friend too, he hates it, i have no problem and can't understand why it does? Maybe hardware incompatibility.

Sorry to hear that. I must admit, I've run AC from the very start (I was a huge NetKar fan) on triple screens and never had a single issue.

It only shows clean runs on the front page but your time is there. Click on the + button, check show invalid laps, and click show selected. Or click on the sessions tab and click on your time in the most recent session, then it shows how many collisions you had. Add 3 secs for each one.
Thanks, blimey that was quick, those were mere scrapes wink ill have a go again tomorrow if its still up

I can't get the ruddy game to run. I'm getting a can't access file error message repeatedly. I'm going to reinstall tomorrow as I've verified and buggered about with permissions a silly amount now frown
