I missed the last one, but gave this a go and maybe it wasn't a great idea going from a mx5 cup race to trying to time attack with the f40.

The brakes feel dead, the power delivery is anything but linear and grip is at odds with both

I didn't even make one lap before I gave up >.< maybe another night.

Dont worry - the next challenge will involve a perfectly poised car with a linear n/a engine and the option to use ABS

How do you turn "factory" on? The only options I have for ABS, TC etc is on or off? Can do 2:10s pretty easily but probably not comparable. Xbox+Pad.

Got down to 2:08s in the end with a bit more to come, stopped now though as no idea what aids I'm supposed to be setting. Probably buying a G920 tomorrow so see if that has effect on times, done as much as I can on the pad I think.

No idea if it differs across consoles.

It shouldn't differ (AFAIK). The PS4 and PC version have a middle option of "Factory" between on and off in the driver aids menu just before you launch the session. This week it won't matter as for cars like the F40 that came without the aids, factory equals off anyway.
Next week's car either has subtle factory aids, or has so much grip that even without them it feels like they are present - I can't tell.
However future challenges might be a bit of a bummer for you unless we can figure out why yours is different.

I'm running in hot lap mode, also tried in career mode, just get off and on options. I'll try some different cars later, see if it's car specific.

that makes me feel better,

the couple of 2:10/11 laps I managed did not come easy, there's still a lot of time out there especially on the last high speed chicane,but there's no feel from the pad at all.
Getting the braking just right aswell using the trigger ain't easy,
