Don't forget the option to run with and and 30% stability control. Still not easy, but slightly more manageable smile

I always drive on Pro settings as I feel I'm cheating myself if not. I'd rather do badly with no electronic aids biggrin I find the car fine, but you just need to show some restraint - or I do at least!

It's quite a handful if you try to push it isn't it? biggrin
This car/track combo showcases the physics at its best, you can feel the suspension working and the weight transfer. Really lets the game stretch its legs.

Funny thing is it's a long track with hundreds of corners, and I make lots of small mistakes, but there are just two or three places I keep crashing.

I'm impressed CC completed a lap on a gamepad, there's no way I could do that!
Yes, I don't normally drive the road cars, but with all the extra weight and unusual weight distribution, you can certainly feel what's going on and have to manage everything, which is quite cool.

Fair enuff.

Yes, this is one car where you have to be super smooth coming on the power - standing on the gas out of corners leads to a world of pain biggrin

I even apply the same logic with flight sims, and I can't fly a plane! hehe

I must admit, on this note, one thing that is sorely missing from AC is wet weather. In the rain on sims that have it, many cars become as tricky on the throttle as the CTR Yellowbird, but they're far more forgiving. For example, I used to spend hours driving the Formula Ford 1600 round the one track I had for NetKar, AC's predecessor, with rain enabled.

I have driven a CTR in real life.

I have driven the Nordschliefe in real life.

Never combined...and it's a fking nightmare. I can't beat 7:40 at the moment without binning it and rage-quitting.

Try driving really gently and gingerly and not sliding much at all, that's how I got my 7m31s. To get the 7m28 I tried a bit harder. There's clearly loads of time available from trailbraking and sliding it more, but it requires car knowledge I've yet to gain from my brief goes!

I found shifting the brake bias backwards a bit helped; I kept pushing the fronts too hard whilst I was trying to turn in and getting understeer from the light front end, but with the bias more to the rear it freed the front end up to respond to turn-in.

Do you keep the turbo on the default 70%?

I went round gingerly and got a 9:13 frown

My 7:40 was gingerly - too gingerly - and I tried upping the ante on the next lap and I got round to Hohe Acht and stacked it. And gave up.

I'll try again tonight!

Oh and 100% turbo always biggrin

I haven't tried it, like RobM77 I really only like the race cars but the turbo settings can be adjustable in car, so set up two buttons to increase it and decrease it. Increase it for the fast full throttle bits and decrease it for the slow parts so you can attack them more without sudden track ejection options.

A few hours left to run on the Yellowbird challenge, if anyone has taken their brave pills.....

Anyway, here's the next one smile

Introducing......

Pistonheads Assetto Corsa Challenge 17: The Hereditary Rollerskate Challenge

Abarth 500 EsseEsse and Abarth 595 SS Step 2
at
Magione

Featuring:
Factory driver aid settings, Semislicks (only for new 500)

A battle of new vs old, see who can peddle the pint-sized pocket rockets around the equally pint-sized track in the best time!
Do you fancy a frantic session of Italian-style redlining and left foot braking to get the best out of the peaky, FWD new Abarth? Or would you rather a more leisurely afternoon of 4-wheel drifting the original Abarth, keeping a watchful eye on that rear-end weight bias?
Why not try both? biggrin

Couldn't stop smiling whilst driving the little fart box 595, you guys with the steering wheels should have some fun if it's that easy to drift with a pad.
bench mark times .........let's see what you've got ?

I've set up two tables just to make it clearer. I've only done the old car so far - how easy the fronts lock up is frustrating but you can 4-wheel drift the car all the way round the track!
