I'm 26 years old and I used to love gaming. I'd spend literally hours each day playing games on the Xbox 360 and PC when I was 14 to 22 years. Now a days though I just don't get the same enjoyment or the urge to play like I used to. I will occasionally turn on the Xbox One for 30 minutes then it'll be switched off. I bought Battlefield1 2 weeks ago which is the first BF I've bought but I just can't get into it. Everyone seems to be so damn good at games which always takes away the fun from it when you get a score of around 5-15. I have bought every single COD game from MW to BlackOps3 and I was COD mad but now, nah.... Maybe I should give remastered MW a go and see if I can enjoy that. If not then I think I'm done with games... I want to enjoy them but I just get bored too easily with them!

Does anyone else feel this way about video games? I also have GTA5 which I bought on release day because I spent hours each day when I was a kid playing San Andreas messing around on the map. I completed the GTA5 single player in 3 weeks shortly after buying the game and I haven't played it since. Same with Halo5 as well...

I'd rather just browse the Internet....

You're getting older.

The only games that hold my attention these days have to a strategic element.

Try something like Wasteland 2 or XCOM 2 or just go out and do something else...

Yup. I used to play a lot of games but stopped when I went to uni. Started again after finishing but only a bit. Then my friends convinced me to buy Destiny a year ago and I can't put the damn thing down.

Hitman is very good if you want to have a game that's quite good fun/infuriating in equal measures hehe

Lot's of opportunity to play for 10 mins/4 hours depending on how much time you've got.

Yep. Your taste has changed basically.
Given how many games are out there, there will be something new for you to discover.

My main played games of the past year have been:
Rise of tomb raider
Life is strange
Skyrim
City skylines
Crusader kings 2

Quite a mix and far away from your cods and gtas.

I've been playing stuff since I was 9 (Pet 2001 days) and now I'm still playing and I'm not that far off 50.

But; No online games. The online world is full of tossers of which I've no desire to interact with.

and no (or hardly no) games that require much thought. I have to do enough thinking as it is at work so I'm not doing that whilst playing games. As an example, I bought Odbuction a couple of weeks ago. Half an hour later I'd already looked up how to solve the first problem/work out what the point was.

So that's my advice; no online/multiple player sh*te and no thinking.

As has been said have a go playing something completely different, you might be surprised what you find interesting. It's fine if there are other things you want to go out and do, but there's no reason not to play at any age.

I've always played a bit of console and a bit on PC, but quite restricted to certain things for many years.

Back on the PS1 I would play GT2 and demos off magazines, I was a Q3 player on PC through that time (plus Runescape later getmecoat). I bought a PS2 for GT4, though I did dabble in things like Burnout around the same time. Started on CS:S when I bought HL2 on release. Next played a bit of TF2 here and there, but shortly moved on to COD4. I got a bit bored of all the hours of FPS around then, bought a PS3 in '08 and played Assassins Creed II right thru. I think I got back into TF2 around then, in between some other stuff on console (AC Brotherhood etc.), until that fizzled out in 2012 700 odd hours later, with tons of GT5 in between. My PS3 hasn't been on for 3 years now.

I can't remember playing a whole lot for a little while, but it seemed like I should play some genres I never did, specifically the CRPG classics and suchlike. I can't get into things that need a lot of thought unless it sort of happens naturally, so tried the MMO Neverwinter as a route in. I got 800 hours out of that over 2 years; I'm now still gradually trying to finish Divinity Original Sin, as I still have most of the Black Isle games and other Divinity games bought ready.

I also played ETS2/ATS a lot in that period, Hearthstone, little things like Rock of Ages, puzzle games, Match 3 RPGs, Guacamelee, Trine, Mark of the Ninja (highly recommended). I've since picked up Overwatch and now seem to go in phases with what I play, a few weeks on that, a few on other games, a few on both.

Too much waffle but I think the point is variation and trying new things biggrin

Thanks guys. I think I'm going off the pure FPS games then. The only games I've ever bought has pretty much been Halo, GTA and COD. I got Forza as a free download when I bought my XboxOne but I find racing games even more boring!

Tomb Raider is probably a good shout and I'll look at Destiny as well which I have no idea about. I think next month I'll treat myself to COD remastered as a last ditch attempt at a FPS type game- if I can't get on with it I'll try something different.

By the way, the previous poster mention Runescape. I played that game for 6 years almost daily. I was basically addicted to it.

I'm in the same boat.

Used to play loads of games, yet lately I'm not doing it so much.

Got Battlefield 1 a few weeks ago. Also invested in a £50 Logitech mouse (I use PC). I've played a good 8 or so hours on BF1, and have now had enough of it. I like the campaign, but the multiplayer annoys me as I'm rubbish at it.

I'm enjoying games with a story element more. Saying that, I am a lot older at 37. smile

One game I never put down though is Counter Strike Source. I have been playing that since it came out in 2004 and it's the only game I really go back to.

Also, is there much difference between Xbox vs Playststion gaming wise? I've got the XboxOne but I can't help but feel that the PS is more grown up? No? Or do you get the same amount of chodes gaming online as you do on the Xbox?

I've got both. The Xbox Live service is far more stable than the PSN service, so at least on the Xbox you can get connected and meet the choads.

As for going off gaming, not fking likely. I've been playing since I was three, when my dad brought home a Megadrive. I still try to play every day.
