No mention of Rocket League?

It's the game I come back to when other games have become a bit too much. Switch brain off and worry about punt a football into the goal with a car. Utter gleeful silliness is sometimes exactly what is needed. I'll often dip into it for a week or two before getting back into slightly heavier games.
Ordered this last night, my daughter played it with friends a few months back and suggested it after I found out that Ratchet and Clank is only a 1 player game! Coming Friday, will report back.

PS4 came yesterday and am playing COD a the moment. Spend a couple of hours chucking hand grenades at myself in the single player mode before moving to the multi player. It wasn't going too bad until my internet decided to keep on disconnecting and I've still not completed a single round yet. Shame as I did have some kills under my belt and was hoping to move up a level.

Great fun though, I'm ignoring all the haters but then my COD experience is coming from about 5 years ago so it's a big upgrade for me.

On the Christmas list atm, I've just spend best part of £400 getting the PS4, couple of games and an additional controller! You could argue what difference another £30 makes of course biggrin

I think people who say they are bored with games maybe just need to broaden their palette of what they play.
If you only play the same type of stuff - e.g. CoD or BF - then it is not surprising you are getting bored.

This week I have played new FPS, RTS, 3PS,tower defence and sports games. None have hooked me. That being said there are some games I want to try but am put off by current price.

Got to have a good story if it's a FPS/RPG, Witcher 3 & Dishonored have me hooked although I couldn't get into MGS-TPP though for some reason.

Best storyline for me is Vice City and it's my most played game of all time.

Well I've caved in after watching some MWremastered multiplayer videos on YouTube. Click and collect at Argos so will be picking it up later this evening after work. Will take all night to download so hopefully I'll be able to play it on Sat.

I really hope I can enjoy this game once again- we'll see!

Stellaris! http://store.steampowered.com/app/281990/

I find sometimes I just need something more than popping heads now to get me to turn the PC on. I still play CSGO occasionally if there's a group of regulars on because that requires teamwork, ditto BF1, but COD just doesn't interest me at all now.

GTA V online is solid fun if you get a group but not something I could play more than once a week.

I've been in and out of games pretty much since my Sinclair Spectrum 2 back in the late 80s. Since around 2002 though, i've always had a console of some kind, be it a Playstation 2, 3 Xbox 360 or One. After 18 months of owning the Xbox One, I sold it in February this year through lack of use.

I was a big Battlefield fan, but I felt the later releases got worse once Medal of Honor was released. After that they never quite hit the highs of the earlier games. I liked the early CODs but then it just became too fast, and it was all about k/d ratios.

I then realised that in my middle 30s, I could be putting my time to better use. I took up playing music again and found that the gaming was left behind. I dont want to look back in 20 years time and think that the highlight of my free time achievement was getting that rank on BF13.

I've just got myself a new laptop, and although its not super quick and not a gaming machine, I've signed up to Origin Access monthly and I'm just dabbling with a few of the included games on there such as BF4.

I spent hours on that about ten years ago

Has it been updated to run on modern systems?

I go to play a game and most of the time end up watching a film. Horizon 3 is keeping me entertained but it won't last much longer. I'm 29, perhaps just growing up.

Never understood this. Why are game perceived to be something solely for children/young people?

I don't think they are, but as you get older your interests change.

That's not what I'm saying, however the older I get the less I appear interested. I do go through phases where I will spend a lot of time playing a game when it's new, I've put 40 odd hours into Horizon 3 for example.

For me its precisely BECAUSE i'm getting older that i play more on games.
The older i get the less i have time for things like track days or other toys with 2 young children. I find gaming has helped me have dare i say it a "hobby", like some would have a train set or a massive scallextric in the loft, i have my 'sim lite' set up, wheel, pedals, seat, good driving games = heaven.

I think it's a case of younger years going out on the lash, had consoles of the time for odd days / nights playtime.
Then the days of well paid sales role with good commissions and loads of spare cash, so had track toys, motorbikes etc etc, went away at weekends a lot, not much time for gaming but still had consoles of the day. Very friend focused, no kids yet, girlfriend becomes wife and....
Mortgage, kids come along, leave sales as burnt out, sell cars and motorbike and other toys, stop being friend focused as some are still singles.. became very family focused stop drinking.
Then got into gaming again but mainly in time after kids are in bed.
Not really sure now seeing it written down if its a sad tale! Its not meant to be, i'm happy with this!
The next chapter is just plugging away keeping kids happy and tryin to keep on an even track... for me i'd far far rather be at home playing games for a few hours after my kids are happy tucked up in bed, than down the pub p155ing my life away....
Gaming can become a hobby and my next step would be a full PC sim set up for racing....
