Logich G29 Steering Wheel £129.99
Discussion
Ordered one last night. Christmas present from the Mrs, half paid for with money from my recent Birthday too...
Didn't go for the shifter option - thought I could upgrade later if I decided it was missing. Does it actually make it more fun to drive? What games support the shifter? (PS4)

The shifter definitely adds a degree of difficulty but feels more involving at the same time. Corner entry is a real challenge.
I've set a rule for mine, if the car is manual in real life then I'll use the shifter. Same for flappy paddle... if the car comes with either (i.e E46 M3), then it's my choice.

Pedals/wheel make a massive difference. As stated above, once you move over to a wheel, you'll likely never go back.
I use a home made wooden board thing strapped to an ikea chair to play. Only thing I had to add was extra grip to the bottom of the pedal set (super size Velcro so it grips carpet) so it doesn't slide away when I'm playing :-)

The G27 was still being sold last year. I bought one from Curry's for £100 as a spare or as prices start to rise, perhaps I'll sell it as sealed/unused.So I would expect at least another 5 years support from the manufacturer for something that only went out of its 12 month warranty three weeks ago.

I'm not willing to keep buying expensive new versions of hardware I already have simply because they refuse to keep supporting the perfectly functional older one with drivers. As it is, I'll investigate building a Raspberry Pi/GIMX setup to allow me to fool the PS4 into thinking it's a G29.

If you have a decent wheel then it's well worth buying something proper to mount it on - this is fantastic, especially for the living room or a location where you don't want/need the wheel permanently set up:I use a home made wooden board thing strapped to an ikea chair to play. Assuming you have a suitable chair, it really is ergonomically very good, very stable, and you can fold it up and stash it away when you're not using the wheel.

Looks good, but I'm quite happy with my wood & duct tape version :-)Assuming you have a suitable chair, it really is ergonomically very good, very stable, and you can fold it up and stash it away when you're not using the wheel.

Does anyone know of any wheel stands in which I can use my own bucket seat? I have a spare Recaro Pole Position doing nothing at home, at the moment it's sat on the floor using the table as my dashboard, but it's not really ideal!
I have this: http://www.gtomegaracing.com/wheel-stands/gt-omega...And you can add on this to fit your own bucket seat to it. If anyone has a bucket seat for sale I'd be interested, I did look at getting a matching Sabelt to my car but only available as a pair at £1200 http://www.gtomegaracing.com/wheel-stands/rear-sea...
As for the shifter I have this: http://www.gtomegaracing.com/wheel-stands/gear-shi... I would advise everyone to hold off on the shifter as its regularly on sale at half price (I got my G29 wheel for £100 from currys and 3 months later the shifter for £25 from currys)
I've been using the pad the last couple of days for various reasons and I've decided I must have been amazing at GT6 when using a pad as I actually managed to complete and win races then
Down to £129 with shifter for one day. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories...
I'm currently looking for a soundbar so had a quick look on Currys website this morning to see whether they had anything worth considering. Saw the offer on the G29 and picked one up instead.
I haven't had a lot of time to try it out yet but first impressions are that it's a decent upgrade on my existing Driving Force GT wheel. The pedals have a lot more resistance and the wheel certainly feels smoother. The shifter is good fun, although I suspect it's probably going to slow me down at the moment. Great fun with something like the Lotus 49 in Assetto Corsa!

What will you be playing on, PC or console? I'm currently playing a lot of Assetto Corsa on PC. It leans more towards a sim than a fully polished game like Forza or Gran Turismo so I haven't done a lot with the career mode. I tend to spend more time just driving laps and then online. I've been having a lot of fun recently with some of the servers that use the Nurburgring Tourist layout with various cars. Also had some good races online on Monza and Spa. I'm not particularly quick but if I keep out of trouble I can generally get in the top half of races, sometimes better, sometimes (much) worse!
Dirt Rally also gets good reviews, I do have a copy but haven't played it enough to recommend and not tried it with the new wheel.
I think generally wheels are more suited to the simulation type games where the additional control is really useful.
Exchanged my black tag event one earlier in favour of todays deal, effectively paid the same but got the shifter this time.
Bloke in front of me was collecting one, as was the next bloke in the queue behind me. Lady on the counter said it was pretty much all she had been selling this morning. Didn't actually need the click and collect code, just told the lady 'same again please' and she asked my name.
Not allowed mine until the 25th
