Project Cars Stoopid Challenges

Ok.................weird issue.

Whenever I open Project Cars it won't let me connect to Time Trial or Online... says server error.
PSN is fine.

Then noticed my internet was slow.

Closing project cars, after 10-15 seconds, internet back to normal.

Checking a basic cmd ping to google, when Project Cars is open, after about 5 seconds, my ping goes from 15ms to 4000+ms and then no reply....until closing the game and it comes back ok

I did some faffing about and thinking and disabled UDP in the Pcars settings... guess what.... back to normal...........

I had UDP set to 1 before (Mark originally didn't say what to set to) ... I turned it off and set it to 5 and seems OK.. just a weird issue... keep your eyes out.

UDP setting of 1 will cause project cars to send 60 udp data signals per second around your network, a setting of 9 will send 1 data signal per second. I'm guessing 1 is flooding your network with data and knacking your broadband. For pclapupdater to work we really only need setting 9, just the speedo, etc will lag. I personally have it on 5 (20 udp data signals per sec) and not had any problems.

Yeah, I had done some research a while ago, but i have been using 1 for a long time without any issues.
Weird, oh well.

I've been messing around with GT3 cars, I'm joined a small racing league with a bunch of lads from one of the track time pages I'm a member of on FB.

I hate the McLaren F1, drives like a boat, but I'm giving it a go now

Wow xjay have you got a rocket up your chuff,3 secs on me, excellent time mate. I can't match that without abs I can't handle the braking on this bad boy. It's my cryptonite

Amazing. Next time I'm on, I'll do another lap or two and try and capture a video if it will help anyone.

b2b - cheers bud, i'll maybe try a time without ABS to see where we compare, my default setup is no aids aside from ABS lol.

I have to admit, once I got used to what felt like the overly long braking distances, and the weird way in which it handled, it's actually not a bad car, still a boat, but like one of those boats you have a nice time on.

It doesn't and the challenge is set to Real so no ABS/TC/SC at all...it's a right squirmy mofo under braking

It slides very predictably most of the time, I do like this car but it does take some getting used to. Sorry to point it out but the challenge is supposed to be real settings so no ABS/TC/SC...I think you could still be quicker 3 secs is a big gap.

Might be easier for me to try TT mode with ABS and no PCLapupdater...you will hate the thing without ABS as it loses all braking stability...it's like spanking the missus' arse, shouting your exes name during doggy style sex and seeing how long you can hang on without being chucked off...

xjay1337, I'm afraid I'm going to have to be a stickler for the rules, which admittedly I can't check unless you drop yourself in it on a messageboard ;-). Driving assists should be set to real, which means that ABS is not available for this car. I'm going to have to delete your times and you'll have to set a new one with the driving assists set to real

Mark, you need to get your geek on, I'm sure the official leaderboards pick this up so it must be in the packet data exchanged with Race Central somehow...
