Not bothered about winning, I always check with handicap off and if I'm within a second of the top time I'm usually happy with that (unless I think I've left time on the table). The handicap will level out, it's all good fun...we need a bit more banter though.

PapaJohns, buy Dirt but it will torture you and make you go insane, it's so hard to get it right consistently. Circuit racing doesn't have trees and cliffs so it's a bit more forgiving. In Dirt I have a good few stages, get a bit confident and bang...killing spectators flying off the road, in fact in the snow I dribbled over a wall at 10mph and fell off a cliff once. Made me feel like a right idiot, so frustrating.
I love and hate Dirt in equal measures - proper pisses me off sometimes with the penalties when you know you can easily get back on track and you get hit with one. Most annoying was doing the January monthly challenge when I was half-way through the final stage and the car gave up on me...

Love and hate in equal measures, yep that's where I am too...I think overall I prefer circuit racing anyway so I haven't played it much recently.

I had the original Colin McRae Dirt on PS3 ( I think he died not long after its release) and loved it.Im just getting back into a PS4 after a long absence.

Also Im a fan of the original GT games, I have them all stashed under the bed along with a ps2,

If anyone is struggling to understand where they are losing time, use the graphs on the website, they're really useful (thanks Mark!). I noticed xjay was shifting much later than me, and carrying a lot more speed over the top of the mountain. My first laps were a 2:13 and 2:11 but I've gradually improved. The car has much more grip than you think it should have, just hang it out there, and be sure to use DRS as soon as you straighten the car up as well. It's taken a good couple of hours lapping but I've finally topped xjay's time. No doubt he'll have some in hand, I think i could possibly find another half second if I absolutely nail a lap. I'm P22 on the overall leaderboard, only one Default set time ahead of me, and he is using all assists, so we're not doing badly.

Didn't realise there was DRS. Doh.
Wondered why xjay was faster on the straights

Yep DRS makes a big difference on the straights, but it doesn't like even the slightest hint of a corner so be careful on the long straight with the kink.

Yes DRS makes a huge difference. Just 0.2 off your time now

Edited to add make that 0.018. Bugger

Rex, check out our speed traces on the telemetry, virtually identical. Try holding onto the gears a bit longer, it looks like your revs are slightly down and on occasion you take a higher gear than me. that's how I found time to catch xjay smile

Evans (sorry I don't know your PH name) has put in a stormer of a lap. The quality of the field is amazingly high. Will be trying to get higher up the field on this one. A great car and track.

Seeing as I can't correlate a wiggly telemetry line to where the bloody hell it is on the track, track maps are coming and they're going to be sexy :-)

Cheers Rex,I reckon there's a bit more to be had.Funny that on the leaderboard it shows a custom setting,it isn't so why would it show that?
Also it shows abs, traction control, stability control is on,is this normal or is there a glitch on there website?
Anyway this is great fun, thanks Mark for putting your time into this.

Doh. Should have looked back at posters names. Evans01 is pretty obvious. Not sure about the settings but you may have changed something previously. I was looking at the telemetry of my lap to yours. You manage a higher top speed than the rest of us. This is usually a downforce setting. Has happened before. Your minimum corner speeds are up on most of ours. I must try harder.

I've had that happen on a previous challenge, let's hope PCars2 doesn't have so many annoying little glitches.

Nice time evans, I just had a look at the graphs, and you're quicker everywhere, but it's clear that you carry more speed through the preceding corner before every long straight as my line dips below yours at every bottom value. Great work, but I'm going to have to give it another crack to see if I can match it. smile

Thanks, the one place I was making time over you was the first long straight and into the first corner going up the hill then you would catch me at the next tight lefthander,I was loosing it all coming back down the Mountain.I think I had my eyes shut coming down the Mountain on that lap!

Telemetry enhanced with heat track maps. Not 100% happy with it yet, but you can have what I've done so far. Click on a map point should highlight the corresponding data point in the telemetry data.
