Easy Jet Flights
Discussion
I've flown with them what feels like a million times. Belfast, Hamburg, Nice and others
Never really had any issues, typical lowcost, lots of folk with hand luggage, all food and drink is buy on board, choosing seats etc all costs although if you check in online in good time you'll probably get a seat with travelling companions.
They are a huge airline and if you always fly BA you'll probably find easyJet to be better than you may think.

Have had no issues. As said, lots of people with some maximally large hand luggage because, unlike the other airlines, they don't have a weight limit, like Ryanair. I take a rucksack as overhead lockers are in demand.
They are about half what Thomson charge, these days (they used to be cheap). Easier on the eye than Ryanair's jarring blue and yellow.
I don't pay for seat allocation and usually get seats over the wing but, to be honest, you can still see plenty out of the window.

I try to avoid them unless absolutely necessary.
They have generally been OK on international flights, but almost missed a return flight from Berlin due to the poor customer service at the airport..
On domestic flights, three out of four of my flights between London and Edinburgh last year were delayed by a total of 6-7 hours - the only one I didn't have a problem with with was the BA flight I used for the return leg on the first trip.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2, flew with them to Vienna and the seat pitch for that length of flight made me feel quite claustrophobic. Just about had room to fit my knees in. Everything else was as expected though, modern aircraft (A319) in good order, friendly enough staff, left/returned on time, pay for your own food/drinks, Gf & I seated together (unlike Air France) even though didn't pay extra for it.
I fly EasyJet a lot and I'm a Plus Card holder which simply means I pay a yearly figure and can choose seats, have more hand luggage and board first.
They are exactly what they are, a bus getting you from A to B, hopefully safely and I know from personal experience their crew training programme is highly regarded as being amongst the best in the industry and their aircraft are very well maintained
In my experience of economy flying over the last 40 odd years they are no worse than others, but your flight will depend on the staff. I've been in business and had grumpy staff and I've been on Easyjet and had grumpy staff.
Equally I've been on many flights with different airlines where happy nice staff make all the difference.

My wife works for Easyjet & most stories of complaints that I hear from her are regarding staff which, for the majority aren't even Easyjet staff, they are supplied by a separate company called Menzies (at Gatwick anyway) and given an Easyjet uniform to wear.
Baggage handlers, air traffic control, people that control the air bridges, people that run the gates, special assistance staff - all nothing to do with Easyjet, when you get on a flight the only people who actually employed by Easyjet are the 4 crew members & the pilot/1st officer.
We always fly with them when we can, not because we get free flights because we don't, employee's still have to pay - they are just a good budget airline, if you want something extra with all the trimmings, put your hands in your pocket and fly with someone else

They have a policy of calling their flights really early. They then only allow the first 80% of passengers in the queue to take on board their hand luggage, the remainder have to put it in the hold. It's crazy. They need to either limit the size of hand luggage, or ask if any passengers who already have luggage in the hold would mind putting their hand luggage in there as well.
Like Sea Demon I have family links to EasyJet and use them regularly but also use Ryanair, Flybe etc. Just depends whos flying where I want and when I want. Normally nothing more than a few quid between them although Ryanair can be quite a bit more sometimes with luggage etc.
To be honest they are much of a muchness. Buses in the sky, that's all. Treat them as such as you won't be disappointed.
Not worth paying more for a couple of hours flight time.

Worth checking Norwegian. I've had some good flights with them. Nice new planes and on time.
+1 and wifi!I've also used Easy jet a number of time over the 5 or 6 years and only once had an issue where they combined 2 flights and took all of the gatwick travellers to stanstead, Apparently they were doing us a favour at the time volcanic ash was an issue but I'm not 100% convinced,
On that occasion they could have arranged some sort of plan for forward travel to get people to Gatwick but nothing seamed to have been done so we all had to make our own way there, I guess it's a case of when things go wrong you notice the difference between a budget and premium airline

Only when they've run out of space in the overheads - blame the people trying to disguise a mini suitcase/army ruck sack as hand luggage so they don't have to wait for their luggage at the other end.Sea Demon said:

The days of BA impressing me are long, long gone.
We've got a toddler at the moment and flying with him is a breeze with them - enormo (heavy) modern buggy (push to gate) and a car seat (in the hold) both go on FOC, and we get Special Assistance boarding after Speedy Boarding/before the usual scrum. I always pay for reserved seats, as I used to hate their original business model of every man for himself.
Once flying back from Cyprus the plane went technical - blew up a tyre on landing, no spare on board - within two hours of it being cancelled we were sat round the pool of a plusher hotel than we'd just checked out of, Easyjet having paid for a night's the accomodation whilst they got hold of a spare. Not sure if they were obliged to do that (we were flying independently of a package booking) but great service in the circumstances.

I was flying between Gatwick and Schiphol every week for most of last year, BA or EJ depending on which was the better time for me, comparing the two:
- Legroom pretty similar (I'm 6'2")
- Free cup of really bad coffee and a lemon biscuit on BA, not any more but it really wasn't worth it, but on an early morning flight you did at least get a juice and a roll on BA
- EJ tended to be delayed more often than BA, rough estimate twice as often, usually only half an hour or so but enough ot make me miss my train
- No points/rewards on EJ, BA points meant I could use priority boarding
- EJ have less luggage space on board, quite often only the first 50% of passengers got their bag inside, the rest had to go in the hold, I was travelling hand luggage only and often in a rush to catch a train so bags inside is a big advantage, then again I never got their late enough to not get my wheelie case inside. My wife had the same problem with KLM though
