Vanda Dendodrium teased

[Update] Video reveals novelty, 'orchid like' doors ... and not a lot else

How many times have you heard of a new hypercar coming to Geneva that promises to change the face of fast cars for the super wealthy? Probably quite a few. However, the Vanda Dendrobium project enters the fray with more credibility than most from the off. How? The involvement of Williams Advanced Engineering as technical partner.

It's the key point of a brief press release from Vanda, with more information due in the weeks leading up to March. Williams of course has EV experience from collaborating with Jaguar on the C-X75 concept, its involvement with Formula E batteries and presumably the Nissan agreement too, though we're yet to see anything from that relationship yet.

As technical partners Williams is to work on the Dendrobium's aero and composites as well as the batteries, while also assisting in future development. Vanda says the Geneva car "mixes striking design with the latest in e-powertrain development".

Also confirmed at this stage is an interior upholstered in Bridge of Weir leather, indeed the world's lowest carbon leather. Vanda CEO Larissa Tan says the Dendrobium is "inspired by nature and rooted in technology, a marriage of design and engineering". So if you thought low carbon leather was a bit much, expect plenty more to come!

Pre-Geneva teaser on the Vanda Dendrobium here - full story from Geneva press day next Tuesday.

"Vanda Dendrobium"

That was made using one of those internet random name generators wasn't it. Probably the RPG Elf naming one.

Vanda and Dendrobium are types of orchid. A vanda is their national flower.

Zzzz.

The market is saturated with ultraniche hypercars that look like a cut-and-paste from a Batman comic. Getting rather tedious.

Well, I hope Williams are getting paid CASH for their work - let's face it, these sort of projects don't exactly have a great history of actually coming to market and generating sales and profits....

Agreed. Uninteresting st. "Rich people make expensive car" really doesn't do it for me anymore. It's fun to see what Ferrari and Porsche etc.. do, because you know you'll be buying that tech in 5 years for 1/10th of the price, but these things? Vanity projects.

I heard from an 'industry insider' that the doors feature a new type of keyless entry which uses driver voice recognition and all they have to do is repeat the phrase, "Wingardium Leviosa" to get in...
