Hi. We're doing a bit of a road trip with another family in August around Yellowstone and other parks to also coincide with the full eclipse. We fly into Denver and need a family friendly hotel to crash in on the night we arrive, then head off into the wilderness the next day.

Any suggestions?

I stayed in the Crowne Plaza downtown... plenty of families there when I was and plenty of places for food nearby.

Thanks for the suggestion. In reality is it easy to get from the airport to downtown or would we be better to stay on the outskirts?

Airport rail goes from DEN to Union Station downtown in just over 30 minutes then the hotel is about a mile away... can't speak to how good the journey is in practise as I stayed there as part of a road trip so was driving.

What time does your flight arrive? If it is around mid-afternoon then driving into downtown Denver is likely to take a while as the roads get rammed at rush hour. Assuming that you will be picking up a rental car straight after your flight, my recommendation would be that you stay in one of the hotels near DIA - there are quite a few (e.g. Embassy Suites, Best Western) on Tower Road which is just off Pena Boulevard - around 5-10 minutes from the airport (Google Maps link here). That way you don't have to drive for an hour to get to the hotel and can get straight on the highway in the morning.
