I used my SNES a couple of years ago on a modern LCD TV with no problems. I used a 'Multi-AV' lead (which inputs to SCART) that came with a Game Cube (you can also buy them on eBay for a fiver).

Street fighter 2 turbo is still as good as the day it came out biggrin
This is on my list of games to buy!

I can see this costing me a small fortune. biggrin
Yep, the games are not cheap and are only going up in price. Buying just the carts will make it a lot cheaper though
I'm going to buy a mix of boxed games and carts. I'm starting with the games I really want (boxed) and will then take it from there.

I hooked my N64 up the other day and it looked unbelievably poor. The SNES and NES don't seem anywhere near as bad on a modern TV as an N64. My light-gun for Duck Hunt doesn't work with modern TV's tho frown
What type of connection did you use?

These [the S-Video & AV cable] are reportedly the best value cables: http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/n64/n64.htm for picture quality (without resorting to fancy internal modding).

Apparently many of the cheapo cables have S vid and comp connections that share wiring resulting in a poorer picture.

I use one from the link above to connect an N64 (via S vid) to a 37 inch Tosh LCD and the picture is great. I admit that this is with the DNR and MPEG filters set high on the TV. Really makes a difference to 'clean' up the picture.

Updating this thread to add, I was at a mates house on friday and we were playing Xbox, Megadrive and PS2. His TV did not have scart or composite AV in so we were using an RGB to HDMI scaler box with Composite AV in a scart adapter.

All I can say is don't! The picture was reasonable but not a patch on native RGB. The scaler introduced a lot of artifacts and glitches (seemed to be worse on the mega drive) and the scaler also added a fair bit of lag.

Thanks.

I'd read about upscalers and lag was mentioned quite a bit. I'm hoping to update the thread properly this weekend once I have the snes fully setup.

My RGB scart cable has arrived so assuming it works okay I just need to trim the back of the TV stand so it fits. biggrin

I'm trying to hold back on buying loads of games until I have it working. I also need to buy a supply of batteries and a soldering iron. I plan on putting fresh batteries in each cart I get.
