Currently use my Xbox One S with a Logitech G920 + gear shift for racing games. Mainly Dirt Rally and F1 2016.

Whilst the Logitech is good the gear shift feels like a toy, is H pattern only and the pedals are ok at best.

I was planning on selling the G920 in favour of something from Thrustmaster as the gear shift feels better but can easily change from H pattern to sequential and I would also love an F1 rim for F1 games and Thrustmaster allows swapping of the wheel.

Now that Dirt Rally is out on PS4 VR I am thinking of changing over to my PS4 for racing. My PS4 was originally bought purely for VR and the Unchartered Series so If I race on that I was thinking of the T300 RS and the TH8A shifter.

What would you do. Would some racing games in PS VR warrant the switch.

I guess my options are

Stay as is. Xbox One S and Logitech G920. So no VR racing
Stay Xbox One S and upgrade to the Thrustmaster TX and TH8A so I get to have an F1 rim option and sequential gear shift.
Move to the PS4 for racing and get the T300 RS and TH8A shifter so I can play any VR racing games that come out.

I also dip in and out of iRacing on PC but all wheels work on the PC

Thanks

If you are hooked on VR stick with Pc and get the oculus rift, it's higher res than PSVR and not that much more expensive. Games are a lot cheaper and there lots of other toys to think about like transponders with Sim Commander.

I used a G27 for years, and although as you say logitech gear isn't top of the line stuff it's more than adequate, some of the top racers used to use DFGT (which is the plastic version of G27).

PSVR with the camera and everything works out the same (if not a bit more) as an oculus. The PS4 just isn't powerful enough to get the best out of VR.

I have the t300rs, shifter and the upgraded pedals on the PS4.

Dirt rally on the PS4 is wicked, it might not have as such a great resolution as the oculas but after a minute of playing you are so 'in the game' you don't notice.

At least on PS4 you simply load up the game and it works to the best of the console, with PC you are always messing about, on the chase for the best graphics/performance balance which I gave up on as it became a bit of a nause.

The psvr unit looks really cool to boot.

In my opinion get a psvr.

Plus the cost of a decent PC to run an Oculus well costs so much more than a psvr!

Edited to add that Dirt Rally looks better in VR than Drive Club did. Driveclub looked better inside the cars but nasty when you looked out the windscreen, and where do you look mostly? ha ha.

Dirt Rally doesn't look as good on the car interiors, but on the outside it's better, probably due to the shorter draw distances, especially when you are in the Welsh forest as you can't see the wood for the trees!

The PSVR is impressive for what it is but it's not technically as good as the PC based solutions.

It's cheaper though.

If your PC is up to it go for the PC option. If it's not then PSVR is the only choice if you want VR.
PC gives you more choice on wheels/pedals, on the consoles you must use a set. I use a T300 with Fanatec pedals.
AC, Pcars, iracing, Live for Speed, ETS and Dirt Rally are all supported on Oculus. Probably others as well.

Stealth edit. I assume you don't have a PS4 already. In that case I'd say get a better GPU (if you need one) and one of the VR options, once you've raced in VR you'll find it hard to go back.
